1972 AMC Javelin - $18,995 - Redmond, OR - Very Very Rare 1972 AMC Javelin SST Pierre Cardan edition. This car was only offered with this package on 400 cars total in 1972 1973 1974. This is one of the rarest and coolest AMC cars ever built. This beautiful example of the early 1970s is about as hippie style hot rod as you can get. Pierre Cardan was a very famous clothing designer in the early 70s. AMC asked his to design an interior for their JAVELIN SST. This car has all the original interior intact. Original crazy headliner in perfect condition, door panels in great original condition, back seat and passenger seats are all original pattern and fabric in very good shape. Driver seat has had some repairs, but is all intact. This car carries chrome Pierre cardan badges in all the right places. There is even a Pierre Cardan registry for these very rare cars, less than 100 known to exist today. You will have a hard time finding one in this condition. New red paint, new vinyl tops, newer tires, great wheels and a very strong and fast AMC 360 motor, make this car a major collector that will do nothing but go up and up in value. We found no rust in this car, It shows very good care over the years. We actually love this car, and wish we could keep it for the summer shows. It is a major head turner, and you won’t ever find a cooler original interior.Including the tic toc tach.vin #A2C797P259465 All this for $18,995.00 They just don’t get any more early 1970s !!!!!!

The funky interior doesn't make this worth any more. The reason that there were so few of these is the low desire by the buying public. :dgt:

Actually, the Disco Duck interior would add some value if it weren't in such poor condition. It's faded as hell and nearly threadbare; I don't even want to consider the cost of restoring it. It's not nearly as rare as stated; over 4,000 Javelins (more than 7% of production) got the PC interior which was only offered in '72 and '73. Speaking of '73, this car's got a '73 grille. Sure, it's prettier than the '72 egg-crate offering but another knock against what a "nice" original it is. Even money that it's been crashed up front.

He shows multiple "Pierre Cardin" emblems but still manages to spell it incorrectly in the ad... Nicely done, Speak 'n' Spell. Side note: There were Levi's and Gucci Hornets and an Oleg Cassini Matador, too. AMC had a fashion branding for everyone back then.

This might be a valuable car were it a restored AMX, possbily even approaching his asking price. But this is just a weathered, original base model (starting in '72, all non-AMX Javelins were SSTs) that's possibly been crashed, with new paint and vinyl-top dye. Even half the asking is too much. Those wheels--while all the rage in '81--aren't doing it any favors, either. At least it's a bona-fide 360-4V car, honorable but still not rare.
