1970 Dodge Challenger - $25,900 - Manchester, NH -
Feast your eyes on this stealth looking E-body. This 1970 Dodge Challenger was purchased in Montreal Canada by our dealership in 2001 and it has spent the last 13 yrs in Maine. Back at our dealership for the second time, this true 340 70 Challenger has only been driven approx. 3,000miles in the past 13 yrs. This older restoration has held up well. The motor is a 340 engine, J code 340 6 pack cylinder heads, alum Edebrock Torker 340 intake, new Edelbrock 650 CFM carb wit electronic choke, chrome air breather, custom valve covers, headers, straight dual exhaust with resonators, pistol grip 4 spd. trans., 3:23 Sure Grip differential, Rallye dash, PS, PFDB, Tuff steering wheel, aftermarket Rally wheels, sport hood, hood tie down pins, dual chrome racing mirrors with drivers side remote. Blk vinyl top, rear window louvers, Alpine am/fm Cd player with dual 6x9 speakers mounted in the rear pkg tray. Equipped with American Racing 15" blk/chrome slotted Mag wheels with BF Goodrich TA raised white letter radial tires. Huge P295/50 R15" in the rear and P235/60 R15: up front. Badged as an RT Challenger, this true 340 car has lots of eye appeal. The car has a really straight body with proper alignment to all its body lines, no waves in the paint and the car has that black high gloss shine. Re chromed front and rear bumpers that are in excellent condition. The front grille to bumper insert was original argent silver, as well as the headlight eye brows, and the grille. The argent paint was removed and the stainless was polished. Notice the sport hood with hood pins. Restored dual chrome racing mirrors with drivers' side remote. The black vinyl top has been replaced with the alligator grain style, no bubbles under he vinyl or rust showing under the mouldings. The bright work and stainless is excellent with no dings or scratches in them. Replacement tinted windshield is in perfect shape. Non-tinted orig. door glass, rear quarter windows and rear back window with only minor scratches on the drivers door. Orig. window louvers, rare option. The doors open and close perfectly with the touch of your finger. Weather strip, window felts were replaced and are considered in excellent condition. Wheel opening mouldings are in nice shape, only minor ding in the drivers side rear moudling. Rear tail lenses and pot metal trim, chrome through valance exhaust tips. Flip open gas cap. The car has a Hemi suspension in the rear. Extra HD leaf springs, solid floors with orig. torque boxes. Light under coating, over all condition underneath looks original with minor repairs noticed. The trunk has al finished carpeting, trunk filler panels on both as well as the rear tail panel has a nice fitted inner carpet panel. No spare tire or jack assembly. New trunk weather strip with solid trunk lid. Repairs have been done on the trunk pan, however, the trunk has no moisture or leaks. Looking inside the cars trunk, we've noticed the has had 1/2 quarters and minimal amount of body work down low. The cars boyd and paint has held up well over the past 15 yrs. Looking inside, the interior looks fantastic, blk buckets with console, factory pistol grip 4 spd., Rallye gauges all work, except for the clock. Orig. dash pad with no cracks is rare on most e-bodies, especially around the speaker grille. Replacement seat covers, carpet, headliner, orig. sill plates, complete set of factory seat belts with shoulder belts, rare rear window defroster option. The overall condition is super nice through out. The car has just been serviced and state inspected. Has no documentation or fender tag, but a true 340 4 spd. car. Excellent driver quality #3 condition car that performs like a TA Challenger, quick ratio power steering, PFDB, this car steers and stops on a dime. Very eye catching.

How can a body tag disappear on a highly desirable triple black 340, 4-spd R/T? :hmmm:

Well, it's either a 340 or an R/T. Which one is it? It can't be both. There is no such thing as a JS23H0B.

The Challenger 340 did not have torque boxes, biased leaf springs, or the T/A steering box (same ratio as any other Mopar PS box) with the corresponding long pitman arm. It was available as an option only on the T/A in '70, and across the E-body board in '71.

It sounds like the fender tag got lost in the rebody process while switching the Challenger 340 parts onto a stripped R/T body, probably a 440 car since the 383 didn't have biased springs or torque boxes originally either. The 440 stuff was probably rebodied onto an even-nicer 318 unibody.
