1968 Plymouth Road Runner

I see only minor niggling details keeping this from being a very nice restoration, including the body-colored drums (seriously?!) and the painful lack of the core support blackout. Sunfire Yellow isn't my favorite hue, but it's not enough for me to want to change it.

Nah, my problem with this one involve this basically being a 383 Road Runner Engine-equipped GTX. Hardtop, decor group, styled road wheels, etc. I loved the original appeal of the Road Runner, being an inexpensive factory hot rod. For whatever reason, it doesn't matter to me as much on later cars, but on the first-year cars I much prefer them as the bare-bones street racin' two-door sedan Plymouth originally intended. The more options, the worse--excepting the hood blackout, which I dig, and disc brakes, because stop.

Lose the power steering and deluxe interior, Zsa Zsa--we've got some races to win.

I wonder how much of that "glitter" was on this car when new. :hmmm:

I would think most of it's original. When they introduced the hardtop version of the runner, they opened the floodgates to such silliness. The GTX was a big step up on the price scale, so I think a lot of buyers opted for the lesser model with a bulked-up option list.
