1968 Plymouth Barracuda - $65,000 - Gold Canyon, AZ - 1968 Barracuda 340-S Fastback, ORIGINAL, absolutely rust-free California car purchased from the original owner, ONE-OF-ONE known to exist with rear seat shoulder harnesses, the only remaining one of two with a 4 speed and A/C, one of two ordered without a radio but with virtually all other options, including the first year for the 340 engine, P.S., Power Disc Brakes, 3.23 Sure Grip diff., Deluxe interior, Formula S Gagues and Tach, Sport Steering Wheel, Variable 3-Speed Windshield Wipers, Rear Window Defroster, 4-Way Flashers, and Front and Rear bumper guards.
This car was personally inspected by Galen Govier while in survivor condition and confirmed to be numbers matching. It has been serially restored over the last 10 years to #1 condition, as described in the restoration article in the March, 2016 volume of Hemmings Muscle Machines. This car has been mechanically and cosmetically restored with the intent that it not only look like a new, stock Barracuda, but also remain reliably driveable, so a full mechanical restoration was performed including a professional rebuild of the 340 and the A833 4-speed transmission to stock specs, and restoration of the suspension, wiring etc. Everything works as it should including all gagues, switches and components.
The original owner was an engineer and kept virtually every relevant document concerning the history of the car. Authentication documentation includes the Original Window Sticker, Build Sheet, Certicard, Purchase Order, Financing documents, Registration, copy of the Original Title, etc. There are also a wealth of documents concerning parts replacement, repair work, warranty issues, gas consumption and other historical issues concerning the car over the years. It was driven regularly over its life and was driven unrestored by the current owner for many years as well.
This ONE - OF - ONE Barracuda is rare, unique, and as good as they come. All body panels are original, rust-free and laser straight. The car runs and drives like a new one and the paint job is top notch. The documentation is peerless and complete. Galen's inspection report, done before any restoration work, shows this car's originality.

Aside from it having the wrong master cylinder, being over-priced and an ugly color, it seems like a nicely re-done car.

very VERY oddly optioned car....while i can testify to the fact that ALL 68/69 fastbacks have the holes for the rear shoulder belts..ive NEVER seen them

rear window blower NICE to have rarely seen

about all i see it missing optionaly would be console, power windows

dont be so sure that the master is wrong...same exact unit on my 69 with the same brakes and still holding its factory tag too
