1968 Dodge Polara - $6,500 - Plainview, NY - 1968 Dodge Polara Convertible

This very rare cruiser is a few steps from its original beauty. This is an original car in need of some cosmetic attention. Lets start with what it DOES NOT need?
The paint is in excellent condition as it was redone several years ago in its factory color.
There is no rust to the body or frame.
The original matching numbers 383ci 330hp engine has full compression and runs strong.
It starts and runs beautifully with no attention needed. The power top works great!
This car has been driven regularly during summer months.
The dash is clear and in good condition.
Tires and brakes are excellent.
All key ingredients to a full and fairly inexpensive restoration are in place.

What does it need?
The drivers side seat has a tare as shown. The dash pad has 2 cracks.
The power top material is in good condition All mechanics of the top work as they should.
Bumpers have no dents dings or rust but have hazing.
For perfection, you may choose to refinish them but they look fine as is.

This car is a great restoration project that even a beginner can master.
The car is 100% road worthy for short or long trips. The new owner will have an excellent opportunity to complete the restoration and drive on or sell it on for some easy money.

It is a decent looking old boat, although it could use a new top. :hmmm:

Fender tag indicates a 290-horse 383 2-barrel, not the 330hp indicated in the ad.

Nice old rig, and not too bad on the price. I'd probably try to keep it under $5K, though, since it's not an HP car and kind of a stripper model.

I don't know. When the economy was better, there was one for sale here (a '67 Monaco). Black top needed replacing, white paint was a little rough, with a decent red vinyl interior. It needed a floorpan, as I recall. Very original car, though, with the same 383-2V engine. That car sat for sale, totally unloved, for about 3 years. Asking price started at $2,500. I was told a couple of different stories; one had the car sold for around $700, one says the car went back into storage, and the most-plausible one (best source) says the owner got frustrated and junked it. This car isn't huge money, but C-bodies are the least loved of the bunch and $6,500 would truly be "all the money" for a low-po first-gen Dodge C-barge rag. The prettier Plymouths seem to have a lot more value, particularly the '65-'66 models.
