1964 Dodge Polara - $38,500 - Sioux City, IA - 1964 Dodge Polara Convertible

This beautifully restored example in Red on Red with a White convertible top is stunning. Powered by the 318 V8 wide black (casting number 2264370) mated to a push button automatic. Equipped with power steering, power brakes, power top, factory radio, optional spinner wheel covers, white side all tires and more. Absolutely nothing to fix on here. Turn key ready in every respect. If you appreciate excellence look no further. Even the underside is impressive.

I hate when people refer to that engine as a "wide block" or "big block". It's almost the same block as a 318LA and the external dimensions of it are the same. The size difference is all in the poly heads. From what I've been told, people started the "wide" nonsense because of it's kinda-similar appearance to the Ford Y-block engines. Great engines, the polys, if you don't mind popping $800+ for pistons and digging deep in the wallet to buy 50-year-old speed parts. Arguably, they'll make more power than an LA but the price will be dear.

Of course, this one's painted the wrong color. It should be red. Street Hemi orange would not debut until 1966, and was only used on its namesake engine until other engines started getting it in '68. The only orange engines prior to '66 were the Max Wedge engines and Race Hemis, which used the truly-awful, much-more-yellow-in-it Race Hemi orange, which is similar in color to a gourd. I originally painted the 440 in the Black Bitch that color; it looked OK on the stand but looked horrible in the car. I repainted it within a couple of months of installation.
