1956 Chrysler New Yorker - $10,000 - Dixon, IL - 1956 Chrysler New Yorker Newport, I am trying to sell this for the owner's wife. The owner died last fall and now his wife has asked me to dispose of the auto. MUST SELL!For sale is a 1956 Chrysler New York Newport automobile that has been in storage for over 13 years. with only 39,768 miles on it. It still has the original paint from the factory on it and is the RARE 4 door hard top model which Chrysler only made 3,599 units of that year. It also has the original factory optional Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels that are a rare item to behold. The auto is a push button automatic model. The engine is the 354 HEMI model 280 h.p. with factory duel exhausts. It still has the original spare in the trunk. This car was purchased in El Monte Calif. in April 1987 from the original woman owner and driven to the Chicago area with no problems. This auto is major rust free! The car does have some pitted chrome on some of the pot metal parts but bumpers are GREAT condition and rust free. When the car was pulled out of storage it was sent to a mechanic and a new fuel pump and battery was installed and a new float installed in the fuel tank.I will admit the auto should get new points & plugs and have the brakes checked but the engine sounds GREAT and the transmission shifts smoothly. The radio comes on but cannot get any stations and I do not actually know what else would be needed but again all the parts are there for a full restoration if needed.
Again this is a Chrysler New Yorker NEWPORT which was only a Newport if it is this 4 door hard top model. The 4door sedan model is a New Yorker sedan model.
