Ford was subcontracted under Willys and strictly forbidden in the contract from writing "Ford" anywhere but on the ID tag stating who manufactured the vehicle as none of it was not their design (in fact, it was really Bantam's design but Willys changed the front end). For the record, Ford only built military Jeeps; there is no such thing as a Ford-built CJ.
