1951 Studebaker Champion - Auction - Harvey, LA - Frame off restoration of a 1951 Studebaker Champion Custom Doctor's Business Coupe. The Champion model is a third generation Studebaker automobile from the post war era. The design features a bullet nose and spinner grill. The Champion model has a 115 wheel base and measured in at 197.5" in length. Powered by a front mounted, rear wheel drive L-Head 169.6 cubic inch displaced six cylinder engine and 1 bbl carburetor. A three on the tree, synchromesh on the 2nd and 3rd gear with overdrive is mounted on the column. Independent coil spring and wishbone suspension with solid axle rear with semielliptic leaf springs. Four wheel hydraulic, cast iron drum brakes with steel disc wheels. The electrical system is powered by a six volt, positive ground battery. Just 2,429 Custom Business Coupes were built in 1951 with an a very affordable price of $1,471 new. This stunning example will sell in New Orleans at NO RESERVE from a private collection.
