1948 Studebaker Champion - Auction - Owls Head, ME - This 1948 Studebaker Champion Business Coupe, # G389158, is something special that you do not find every day. A barn find from Alabama with 40,000+ original miles, the southern patina has been preserved with a clear coat finish. The entire body and undercarriage are totally solid. The engine runs smooth and the transmission shifts well, including the overdrive, makeing this a fabulous car to drive on four almost new radials. The factory optional heater works well. Note the discoloration of the fenders, Studebaker subcontracted the fenders and their painting which did not hold up as well as the rest of the car. Studebaker stopped subcontracting this in 1952. The southern patina and clear coat preserves this piece of Studebaker history. The interior lights, headlights, wipers and blinkers all work. The interior door sills, if you take off the aluminum kick plate, are rust free with factory paint. The owner of this car claims he has never seen this before. Inside the car is like a time capsule. It is completely original with the dealer installed plaid seat covers still on the seats!. The back window shelf and curtains are in great shape. The current owner, a Studebaker enthusiast, claims this is the most solid, rust free, untouched original car he as ever owned.
