In 2012 We purchased this Dodge Panel W/C from a collector in California in rust-free and fully operational original condition. Our plan was to create a vintage truck with modernized capabilities and reliability of highway driving, city cruising, and general utility as a reliable vehicle. We succeeded by using a 1996 Magnum V8 Engine and transmission from Dodge Ram donor truck with $68l miles on it.

The day we “finished” the work my wife took the truck to a client meeting (she’s an artist - this truck was to haul her paintings and mural supplies). She had a parking lot fender bender while pulling out of a parking spot, damaging the driver-side front fender. We banged out the dents and parked it in a garage planning to do a complete bare-metal re-spray. That was over a year ago. We’ve done nothing to it since and know its time to pass along this vehicle to the next owner.

Along with the 1996 Dodge Ram Magnum V8, and transmission we spec’d the Mustang II front-end and had it fabricated by FatMan Fabrications.
We disassembled the tuck removing the old engine, drive-train, and 6-volt system. The FatMan front end was installed as we boxed the frame for stiffness and strength. We welded every hole in the firewall and installed heat and sound insulation. New brake master and booster were installed with easy access to master under the drivers seat hatch.

We sent the old gauges out to Classic Instruments as templates for the creation of brand new modern, functional gauges while we completed all suspension and driveline upgrades.

This truck will easily cruise at 90MPH on the highway without any issues. She stops reliably and with easy thanks to the updated braking system. She runs cool and strong with new water-pump, timing, engine gaskets and seals. There are no leaks.

The ignition is key activated with a hidden kill switch for added security.

The safari windshield and all windows are original.

This is not a showtruck (yet) and there is work to do. The passenger door is missing the door lock. The interior has not been painted. The seatbelts are not installed. The windshield wiper works but can be improved. The Vintage Air AC system is installed but has not been charged.
The driver’s fender damage has been banged out but not prepped or painted.
The custom running boards are fabricated and installed but not seamlessly integrated (1 inch gaps between font fender and runner need to be addressed.
Front-end bright-work was removed after fender bender and has not been re-installed.
We welded in a temporary roof panel to replace the canvas and plywood panel to prevent leaking and improve rigidity. It’s functional but has not been painted.

I’m selling for less than half the total $ invested in the truck. This truck can be driven as is with confidence to the grocery store OR across country. All issues are purely cosmetic and do not involve any rust.

So buy this today and love it as is, complete it and to make it a drivable show car, or return it to original with all the original parts included.
