I kinda the old school hot rodding theme. And the disk brakes and T-5 trans are nice upgrades.

Boy, I like just about everything about this car except the gauge bezels. He custom-ordered those gauges from Speedhut (same gauges I have for the Imperial) so why he wouldn't have gone with chrome to match the dash is kind of beyond me. Luckily, the bezels simply thread on and off, and Speedhut sells replacement bezels. That's really the only change I'd make here.

I'm not excited about the Kleenex-and-spit transmission either, but in this application it will likely live a reasonably happy life.

The earliest S-10 T-5's had a torque rating of only 210 ft. lb. Even with his engine mods he will have a hard time hurting this trans. You also have to factor in body weight, gear ratio, tire size. :hmmm:

With the low power matched to the gear ratios and extra gear it probably makes for a nice cruiser. Since swapping my brothers flatty powered 49 truck to a T-5 it's a whole different drive. If the T-5's had been available back in the 40's & 50's everyone would've had one.

I'm sure it's a great cruiser, but T-5s still break--a lot--even without hard use. The best T-5 ever made by Borg-Warner could only muster a 305lb/ft rating. It's just a flimsy transmission.

Actually, the World Class used in the Camaro with the 305 TPI was the baddest of the bunch... by 15lb/ft, if memory serves.
