1929 Studebaker Commander - $1 - Fredericia, - Nine vintage cars put away for twenty years because of visitors grumbling!We all know them, don’t we? Smugly better knowing they wander around at car shows, at meetings and fairs and most annoyingly sometimes stop right next to your own treasured classic. Where they reveal a seemingly endless well of knowledge about this or another detail that is not original, a colour hue that is not quite right, that the wood/chrome/leatherwork is not done right and so on and so forth.
In the mid-nineties this Danish collector suddenly had enough: Too often had he opened his doors for clubs, rallies and meetings only to be met with grumbling over the cars he proudly had restored with and later inherited from his uncle. As many feelings were invested in the cars this drained the enthusiasm of the nephew owner to such a degree that he cried enough. The cars were fully conserved for long term storage, blocked-up and the barn doors shut and locked.
And there the nine cars known as the Nordsoe Collection stayed for twenty years, out of reach for everyone. Which was a shame, as there are some real rarities amongst them, from Locomobile 48 to Packard Cabriolet de Ville and Studebaker President 7-seater.
Recently they surfaced for sale at the Danish Auction site Lauritz.com. The nephew has determined that his enthusiam will not return and is so certain about this that all cars are sold without reserve. Certainly there can not be any grumbling about that. Find the cars for sale here at Lauritz.com.
