14 second 318 B-body !

My friends son bought this 318 Coronet in April this year. It sounds like it has a very mild cam in it. It also has headers with an Eddy intake and a 780 vac secondary Holley. My son gave him the 3.91 jackpot from his Dart to put in it. When we went to the track 2 weeks ago he bet his friend with a 5.2 Dakota a case of beer he could beat him. None of us thought the 318 Coronet would break out of the 15's. Boy were we wrong as it ran a best of 14.58 @ 94 mph ! It really surprised me. I may have figured in the lighter A-body it would run that but I didn't think it would run that good in the B-body. And the Dakota only ran 15.30's so he won the case of beer.

Its not a bad looking 68 Coronet either. Thats Ron Jr and the Dart in the other lane next to him. Ron

My brother had a 70 Coronet with a 318 in it back in about 71.
He bought from a guy who had warmed over the engine a bit.
It was a pretty wild car for a 318.

I'm sure it had some highway gears in it though, because my brother used to run it back and forth between London, ON and Niagara.

One day he showed up at home for breakfast, giggling like a little girl.... Seems he turned the normally 2.5 hour trip into a 55 minute trip. (So he says - I was only 5.)
 
Well theres a certian board member who has 2 - 4s on one of those, and its a 4 dr. I got a case of beer on the 4 dr.:dance:
 
Kid I went to school with had a Plum crazy Coronet. Damn thing was always broken. Kid was a doofus though.... ;)

I looked for your picture in my HS yearbook and cannot seem to find you. My whole school was filled with doofus types, so I am sure you must have been sick that day.
I was ditching.
 
when I got my 70 the kid before me had put a 4bbl and intake on it and electronic ign. the car still had single pipe and blown out muffler... it would keep up with a new mustang GT with little problem on a roll.... had crap gears back then too hense the roll thing...
