I might have the explanation.
There were pieces that filled in between the bottom of the hinge and the wheel well. Not the original ones, but some I got with a mini tub kit. These were similar but different than what was original, to allow for the 3" extra tub width. They aren't installed...
I'm thinking the same thing but the dumb things were in there before, why not now?
The fun part is you have to take the bars back out to try anything different so it's back in the
Well, I've got one in hole 2, the other in hole 1, and the hood stays open by itself now but it won't close because the rods still hit the hinge bracket.
Here's what I'm up against
When the trunk comes down, the rod moves back, and runs right into that piece that meets the wheel well.
I'm not sure what's going on. At one point I had to move it over that direction to get the rod to latch in on the other end. I'm still messing with it. It...
This is what I made to wind the bars
12" long, 3/4 square tube. I wish it was longer, but that's what I had.
The slot goes around the rod, then you rotate it around and the cross bar picks up the end of the bar so it can be wound to where it needs to be.
FWIW I was able to get the rods in...
I've been searching on this ever since the car came back without the rods installed. Surprisingly there's not a lot of info. Probably because why would you take them out?
I made a version of this with 3/4" square tube that seems like it's going to work. Battery dead so no photos.
Mine...
It's going to be that or a new set of lights.
I forgot to clip the cables onto the heater box. They're right on top, where you don't want them to be after the dash is bolted in.
I spent way too much time messing with the trunk springs. Had them in and out (not tensioned) 2-3 times trying to...
Yeah with the never-ending parade of UPS boxes related to this thing, I have to choose where to save and where to spend.
The good part is a) this isn't holding anything else up and b) if I screw it up it's not a big deal to just take it back out of the bumper and replace it later
Evaporust has...
I cleaned up the rear section wiring and laid it in place. If I didn't know better I'd say it shrunk. I guess it's caused by the extra tub width it's got to go around.
The only wiring that's left is the engine harness, and that has to wait because I have to match it to the engine layout...
Here's photos of mine that might show what I mean
No doubt I can get that socket out of there, but will I destroy it in the process? Is there enough there to clip in a parts-store socket from the "Help!" aisle?
Repops cost $175. That's definitely a vote against destroying it while trying to...
I posted about this on FBBO and the only real recommendation was to file down the contacts on the bottom of the bulb. I thought that was going to be the answer, but no. I eventually filed all the contacts off one bulb and it still wouldn't go in.
There's something going on with the thing, but...
Hadn't plugged the dash into the firewall yet ...
For some reason I can't get a bulb to go in the parking lights.
I checked them with a socket on an extension to push the socket in, and it seems like there's one stop, then there's another, and I can't get past the first stop with a bulb on...
First time out this year. Still runs and drives good, 2nd gear still has problems but I've got no place to pull it out or time to fix it so it is what it is.
I drove it to Lowe's and when I walked back out to it some goober was pulled up next to it. He started to pull away when he noticed...
