    Need a car camera

I need one of those cameras that people attach to various parts of cars to get live footage during a race or drive. In particular, I want to aim one at the turbo and exhaust manifold on the dually. I'm curious as to what things look like at 50 lbs of boost. I won't be surprised to see the...

    440 timing chain surprise

Yesterday I just pulled what might be the only original 40+ year old big block chrysler timing chain without significant nylon teeth breakage. It was in the '69 new yorker I'm working on with only 83k on it. The chain is fairly stretched, but it had no real nylon loss. I've seen them so bad...

You might be a bachelor if...

This is something I made up and posted on facebook a few days ago. I thought you guys might get a kick out of it. (Yes, all of it is entirely based on my life at the present time.): You know you're a bachelor when... You'll smooth put a can of soup directly on the stove like it's no big...

a/c compressor, clutch hydraulics, brake booster for '96 dodge diesel needed

Hi all, I'm working on various projects for other people. I need a hydraulic brake booster (the kind run by the power steering pump) for a '97 dodge, a set of clutch hydraulics for the same truck, and an a/c compressor for it. I think the compressor ought to be the same between '94 and...

Any way to correct for white saturation in a digital photo?

I have a picture that has a great deal of white over saturation. My image editor is Irfanview. Is there any reasonable way to work a small miracle with it and cut way down on the saturation? I've already messed with contrast, brightness, and gamma correction. They help to a very limited extent.

    New yorker with a blower

Hi all, I seem to recall about 10 years ago, somebody took a mid-late 70's new yorker with a stock 440 and stuck a roots blower on it. I think they put some big tires out back and proceeded to annihilate some rubber. Anybody know where I could find pictures or video of that car? I was...

    Wiper bushings...any decent replacement?

Hi all, I'm just about convinced that the plastic wiper bushings dodge used are the worst design fuckup in the entire history of the company. It's not just that the idea is abjectly stupid, it's also that they compounded the error by continuing it FOR OVER 20 YEARS. It's like if you're a...

Just out of Army bootcamp, at Ft Benning now

Hi all, I could swear I posted that I was about to go into the Army before I went on this site, but I'll be damned if I can find where I posted it. If not, I apologize for disappearing, as not posting here was accidental in the rush of getting ready to go. Anyway, I got through bootcamp...

    What happened to the haze?

Hi all, I'm talking about the purple '71 charger with a twin turbo aluminum block big block chrysler. Last I heard a young guy had bought it and not done much with it, though I think I remember he did wear out some poor hapless soul with a turbo supra on the interstate.

Went a 13.72 in the truck tonight

The weather was perfect-cold and dry. Temperature was about 41. It went 13.721 at 98.64. The 60 ft was 2.039, the 1/8th ET was 8.772 and the 1/8th mph was 80.59. This is the best pass yet in the truck by a narrow margin. The only deviation from stock is smaller tires. The original 275's...

    1972 duster

Hi all, Another thing I need to get rid of-a '72 duster project car. It's currently a rolling chassis. I have conversion mounts to put a big block in it, though it's originally a 318 auto car. The front suspension has been rebuilt except for the tie rod ends. For some reason the previous owner...

May be going in the Army soon

Hi all, I can't remember if I posted about it here or not, but I've been selected for Army OCS. They gave me a shipping date of May 19th, 2011. I'm trying to speed that process up, so I've requested an earlier date. It looks like I may get my wish, possibly as early as January...

400 and 440 blocks, shortblocks, cranks, complete engines, transmissions

Hi all, More stuff to get rid of. I have various 400 and 440 blocks and shortblocks, a few with cranks but no rods or pistons. All blocks are from the 70's as far as I know. I'll sell any block (with it's original main caps included) for $75. If you want one with a cast crank in it...

Mercedes OM617 5 cylinder turbodiesel for sale

Hi all, I'm clearing some more stuff out. I have a 1981 model 5 cylinder mercedes turbodiesel for sale. I've seen it run, and it seemed to run fine. It's rated at about 123 hp, which should be plenty to propel the average vehicle down the road at reasonable speeds. This is the engine...

Paypal a safe way to get paid?

Hi all, Is paypal a reasonably safe way to get paid for something? I may be about to sell a transmission, and I really want to insist on cash. Problem is, the buyer is in Washington state and doesn't know me or anyone around here to deliver cash. I have a paypal account, but I don't...

f5l-912 5 cylinder deutz air cooled diesel for sale

I have a deutz air cooled 5 cylinder diesel engine. It came out of a 1979 dodge class b motor home. It was running fine when I pulled it 6 months ago, though I had to remove the oilpan and pickup tube to get it out of the rv. (the pan and tube are included with the engine) Since this came out of...

Saw a strong buick on the dyno tonight

One of my best friends has an '87 GN he bought new. He has done a few things to it over the years. Still has the full interior, functional a/c and cruise, power windows and locks, etc. He dynoed it tonight in preparation for the gs nationals coming up in Bowling Green, KY. It made 683 hp at...
