Because of parts availablity for the w2 engine I had to move on to plan B.
I have a 1970 340 that I bought at a swap meet years ago. They guy swore up and down this was a great engine. I bought it but was always very skeptical. It's been on a engine stand in my garage for about 10 years and who knows how long it sat before he brought it to the Jefferson WI. Swap.
I wasn't going to have parts for the w2 engine in time so I droped this in.
He wasn't full of shit. I primed it, rebuilt the carb, dumped the oil and antifreeze out of it ( yes it had both in it) and changed the timing set. This thing runs awesome! No smoke, no noise, never a tick, and 40 p.s.i. of oil pressure hot.
I could not use the headers that were on the car. The w2 heads have a specific bolt pattern. I do have a cheep set of small block a-body headers. I am not proud of what I had to do to those headers to make them fit. I'm sure the crash damage on the right front frame rail, the replaced left front rail, and the 6 cylinder k-frame with trans adapt conversation motor mounts have everything to do with the brutality required. I think I paid $20.00 for these headers so I really dont give a shit LOL.
Agnes will be at the show next weekend.
