New (to me) Truck

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind dragging her back with me.
She's far from being ready for sale. I haven't even slung her down the quarter yet... and I'll probably experiment with the engine a little depending on how the first trip goes. I've got some even-larger-valve, small-chamber W2s here that should bump the compression closer to 11.5:1. I don't think 10.1:1 will be to the cam's liking, and the current gargantuan ports' RPM requirements might not be to my liking.

I still have to build the replacement engine, too. That got some upgrades recently with the addition of some higher-compression pistons (just under 9.5:1) and aftermarket rods but I'm not going crazy on it. I just couldn't put the factory ~7.5:1 pistons back in it. That's just... wrong. Anyhow, with some J heads, a '69 AVS and a mild cam, it should be a good giggle machine.

No problem there Doc, I don’t have proper funds at the moment anyway, unless I have the right 6 digits for Tuesday night. Just tossing my name in the ring in case that eventually comes to pass.

Nice having a solid, rust free truck but most of the non-metallic pieces end up baked. The upper parts of my door panels are faded and starting to get a little chalky. Once everything else is together I’ll get the windows blacked out and an 85% tint on the windshield. I have a friend that does it and it’s necessary with the size of that glass. I also picked up a solid rear window to replace the slider.

Everything is together and I fired it up this morning. Let it run til It hit operating temp, all is well except a light tapping sound from the top end. I couldn't quite nail the location down since I could barely hear over the basically open exhaust. I grabbed a Dakota Y pipe from Summit Racing I'll install probably Saturday, unless I get some free time tomorrow afternoon.

Yep, the roller rockers were making the noise. Threw the stockers back in and all is well on that end.

Working on interior now, the stock seats are ok, but the drivers seat no longer reclines and 2 of the motors are not working. I have a set of Cadillac SRX seats I’m going to install, don’t want to hear it, they’re fully operational, in great shape and have the required integrated seat belts. I have a question wiring in the seat heaters, do I need to put relays in that circuit or just a fuse? A rubber floor mat will replace the faded and stained carpet.
