Pi$$ed after Mopar show....

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing...so I'm
Well I went down to the local Mopar Unlimted car show today. Finally getting a bit of cloud and drizzle after months of no precipitation! So turn out was not as high as I would have expected.

Anyway was wandering around looking at cars, and I spot a beat up, primered old 69 Charger out on the side of the road. I go look at this car and I'm sure it's my old 69 Charger I sold 20 years ago! It is a lot worse shape body condition wise then when I sold it, but still it is most likely my old car. So needless to say i was a bit excited.

I went back to the wagon, wrote up a friendly note stating that I might have owned this car, and if they would like to discuss the history of the car I would be more then willing. I go back to the car and I slip the just past the window seal on the drivers side glass...then some guy starts yelling at me. I look across the road and this guy is screaming at me to "Take the note off the car!" He's is pretty irate. I figure he thinks it's another clown wanting to buy the car....so I move closer to him across the street and ask if he owns the car? He continues to yell at me to remove the note...I tell him I'm not harassing him about buying the car. He continues to yell at me about not "touching" his car. I tell him to settle down and that I just wanted talk about the car because I think I might have owned it many years ago. He continues to yell at me to remove the note because he doesn't touch my car so I shouldn't touch his....I finally finally just threw up my hands and say to him "What ever buddy, you need to just chill out!" grabbed my note and left.

I guess this guy is way too full of himself to get so upset over a simple note being left on his car. A total friggin A-hole in my books. Kind of ruined my day. :(

The guy must have been blind to yell at you. Some people have no courtesy in simply talking to people. Hopefully it is not your old car, as it would be terrible to have an a-hole owning it.

I found there are a lot of those kinds of guys at car shows... I meet enough assholes in the normal run of the day, I don't need to meet their leaders at car shows.

Sucks that he ruined your day. :(

this is EXACTLY why i do the micro car thing instead...the guys are sooooo much more laid back...and you get the "would you like to sit in it?" "can i open the door or hood for you to get a better shot?"....and where talking about the history of said car is almost more important than actualy showing it

Perhaps the fact that he was on one side of the busy street, and I was on the other gave him a little courage. ;)

Yeah I would love if someone approached me, or my car, and said they had more history on the vehicle. That is why I did not think it would be a big deal. Plus I wouldn't get too upset over someone "touching" my car, especially if it wasn't a show finish car.

That was my first thought....you're like 6 foot skyscraper. [smilie=2:

Was he bigger than you, blind or wasted?

I would consider dragging him by the shirt across the street to watch me spit on his car.

In my head, this plays out with you picking him up by the neck, carrying him across the street, sitting him down on the hood of his car & quietly explaining why you left the note. By the time you're done, his pants are likely wet. That's just how I pictured it going down.

Not defending the guy being a jerk, because it sounds like he was just going out of his way to be offended.

But I am sick to death of people tossing flyers, handbills advertising upcoming events or automotive services into the Demon at shows. If I leave the windows up, then they stick 'em under the wipers. I don't need to take more garbage home thank you very much....

I thought about going over and asking him face to face...or should I say his face to my chest....WTF! But my 14 year old daughter went with me to the show and was just down the way in the wagon. Have to set a good example for her. ;) I explained what happened to her, and she agreed....guy was a Jerk!

Well, I've got mixed emotions here... at least, for the first part.

I don't want to see anyone with their back to me, "fucking with" my car. I'd yell too. Sorry, that's just me. However, once you explained what was happening I would've lightened right up, thanked you and probably immediately started with conversation and questions--mine and yours (since you'd probably like to play owner "connect the dots" and find out about its history after you sold it). There's just no excuse for his behavior once you explained yourself.

So yeah, I can understand why you were pissed, but I do understand his initial reaction. His continued assholishnes, though, leaves me at a loss.
