DCF's Charger

I don't think the 2nd gen Chargers have the AMD support an E body does, yet. I think for the E body all you need is a VIN tag and a K frame.
 
oh i dont mean anything by it im just curious as to what wasnt replaced.....remember i like building full out mods..so very little of the original remain...its like my lloyd less than half of each fender is even stock still..roof, rear door and upper rear quarters are all that remain
 
It's still got it's original roof, firewall, door posts, rear package tray and all the related structures. One of the front rails is original (can't remember which) and the forward sections of the rear rails are original as is the rear under-seat floor. Also rad core support and the trunk drip troughs are OEM.

A lot of what we had to replace was done because the previous guy hacked everything he touched. I'm sure if I had gotten it first, it would wear more of its original parts.
 
i have no doubt had you gotten it first it would be MUCH better off...its projects like this tho that just make me wonder in comparison the amount of "replaced" body compared to a full on custom...and makes me feel alot better about the hacking and cutting i get to do lol....it really puts them both on the scales and lets you see how much the work is in many concerns the same
 
I hear ya.

Custom work is my first love. If I could do nothing but for the rest of my life I'd be a very happy restoman. :giggedy:
Resto work pays the bills. Sometimes. :(

Cutting/altering/replacing parts has never bothered me. A lot of the time, the rougher the project the better I like it.
Some people get anal about copious amounts of sheet metal replacement and get on the "re-body" bandwagon. Those folks tend to belong to the "numbers matching/ just the way the factory built it/my car is better than your car" crowd, and I don't have much time for them.
 
i dont have time for that BS either..its one thing if the car is a museum peice and is truely an unaltered original AKA survivor ..at which point..ya know what..the car deserves that kind of mentality..but once you paint it...its a custom no mater what way you slice it..its just a stock custom not a full mod

my heart n soul has and always will be in the customs...but i can always apreciate the restos..cause without em the world would just be that much more boring

all said would you have the same or more time into a fullblown custom?..im guessing about the same
 
Hard to say how much time... but a custom would take a lot longer.
Truthfully, I don't even consider it work. It's second nature to me, it's what I do.
 
Getting closer... it's now pointed towards the escape hatch. :)

There's a haze of body shop dust on everything but it looks REALLY good. The pics don't do it justice.

What do you think about sticking that white plastic sheeting over it to protect it?
Like that stuff you see on new cars when they get delivered to the dealerships.

It's just a static cling type of thing. Right?
 
It's just dust. It'll be gone as soon as we hit it with an air blower or the tow truck starts moving. :)
 
I was thinking more to protect while moving it home and while it's sitting in the garage..
 
Believe it or not, that white plastic sheeting is pretty expensive stuff. Not as expensive as a repaint, of course, but it's far from cheap.

Lookin' sexy... are you tingling all over, Beanieman?
 
You can wrap it in plastic for the ride home, but the plastic will likely be in shreds by the time you hit the 5 mile mark on the 402... unless you want to go big bucks and shrink-wrap it like they do with new boats, ATVs, etc.

I like the green. Too many people pick orange or black for their cars, greeeeeeeen breaks up the monotony. :)
