DCF's Charger

restoman

The paint fumes have cleared so I'm
Yeah, still workin' on it. :dgt:

Very close to having it pulled down to work where all the edges can be cut in. Hope this weather holds for a few more days...

Gotta say, DCF is the most patient customer I've ever done any work for. I wish every one was as good as him. :)

I set the doors slightly high - they'll drop a bit when the glass and hardware is in them. That's why the center body line looks off. You'll have to have all that stuff installed before we go over the blocking...
There is a LOT of primer on there. :)

Dayum....looking good!! I agree...if you are not a dick, and can wait a bit for things...guys will generally go the extra mile for you.

Restoman has gone so many extra miles on this for me, he is going to need three plane tickets to get home.

Doing the work right is where he starts. Fixing all the wrong that was done to that car before he got it (and being more upset about it than I) is where he goes to get ready to make things right. I hope that made sense...

Yup I understand. I don't always do things the easy way either...but what I do, I try to always do it right...even if it takes longer.

The closer it gets to being done, I can see him bouncing off the walls, all giddy like saying, "GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME......":Fresh Meds:

:D

Looks good!

5 years, seems like a long time, until I realize that mine has been sitting for almost 2 barely touched :(

Heh. 5 years is how long Mike has had it.
I think I took it all apart 5 years before that.

I'm betting I'll be another 5 years before I get it all back together.....

Yeah but think of the progress that has been made in repro parts in that time> Way easier to restore a 2nd gen charger now.;)

It took 8 years to do the resto on my 68 R/T convert, but that was before any resto parts were available.

I didn't use any repro parts on the VW, everything was either donor parts or handmade. That car was sooooo bad... should never have been fixed. Ever. When the tunnel on a VW Beetle chassis is rotted out... :dgt:
But it's been six years now, the guy LOVES it and it's going to last him a lifetime. And the resto was basically free except for those donor parts. :)

Yeah. For the most part, I was ahead of that curve, an early adopter, or a guinea pig.

The quarters were one of the last units from that Ron Luschia guy in Michigan.

Most everything else came from Sherman because AMD was really just getting ramped up.

And some of the stuff was bought twice. Fenders jump to mind. I got some good used ones that turned not as good and by then AMD had some and if I remember right, one of my fenders is AMD.

It's all kind if a blur now. :D

Yup, one of the fenders is AMD, the other is a formerly-badly-battered original. That nice looking red fender you had was loaded with filler...
The hood, taillight panel and Dutchman panel are AMD as well.
Rear rails are Goodmark, I believe. ?

Is CBD out of the sheet metal business?

It's pretty decent. The hood and dutchman are very good, the fender needed a little work on the leading edge.
Neither the hood nor the fender have been installed yet, so fit remains to be seen.

The CBD quarters looked great out of the box but did need a fair bit of work for me to be happy with them.

out of my own curois sillyness..what is still "stock" body wise
Well, it would still be considered a numbers matching body... rad support, trunk rail, VIN, etc, all match. :)

It's a rebuilt body, strong as Hell, looks pretty good and should last DCF a loooonnnng time. Who cares about any more than that?
