Mallware??

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing...so I'm
I need to know of a good program to run through my system? So many options out there I have no idea who to use.

I've got a combo deal running on my system TC. Spy Sweeper for all that pesky spyware/adware stuff and McAfee antivirus for everything else. They complement each other really well and between the two of them I've not once had a problem.

*Knocks on nearest wood* :shifty:

Malwarebytes is the best all around digger-outer if you think you're infected, but it doesn't catch everything - nothing does.

In reality, if you think you are infected, you may likely need a multi-pronged attack using Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, RootKit scanners, and some online virus scanners.

As much as I am comfortable with these programs and what they do, I still like to use www.bleepingcomputer.com for guidance. They'll walk you through the process and get you clean. Just follow their rules and be patient - they are actually very busy and they do it all for free.

Well I used Hitman Pro...and it said my system was clean. Now if it missed something..maybe..I think I will try out your link there DCF and see what happens.

My computer is 6 years old and loaded up with a bizzilion pictures, movies, and other misc crap so it's pretty slow.

There's a tutorial there about cleaning and speeding things up..
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic87058.html

It's pretty exhaustive, but if you start, you may find some things that will help.
I took a shortcut and used SystemMechanic Pro from www.iolo.com and it cleaned up a bunch of stuff and things did improve. Well worth the money.

I need to get some RAM back in to my system though as I am still hitting a wall occassionally.

just can't imagine an OS with banner ads relative (or close to it) to whatever you are doing at the time.
