XL's new Carb

Well XL's roller cam finally showed up so it's time to test the cam and heads on a mule to make sure were not going to have any problems running on 91 octaine...
I really wanted to use a C&S Aerosol Billet or DiVinci Spider just for the [smilie=2: effect (plus the extra 25 hp and 25 ft lbs is nothing to sneeze at) but at twice the price without a signed authorization in blood this will do...
Nice simple Quickfuel P-1050 with anular boosters for that 3800 lb B Body..

Well that one looks pretty much finished :p Mike should push it outside for a while and finish up the home for this here engine :toot:...

or maybe tell Mike that there ARE 24 hours in a day...he could work the first half of the day on the 69 and the other half on XL's...:p

The "finished" look is how I brought it to him....
That was someone else's idea of finished.

Mike's going to finish it right.

and hey, throw that engine in the 69, xl won't mind...

We can do that :)

Its on the spinner now, be easy to put the hoops in.

Rob, I've got to finish up XL's old dorF pick up before we get going on the Charger. We should be hacking up... I mean fixing... the Charger pretty soon.

DCF, can you imagine putting Rob's torque monster in between those rails and rockers before we got tot them? Can you say "Twist and Shout"?

Something similar to this, I'd guess:

Hey Rob,

Do you tune other carbys? I have that 850 Demon DP for the 512 that's still brand new out of the box stock. I've got no idea if it will be close enough for what that engine needs. I've heard some people hate tuning those Demons. Me, I don't hate em, I've just got no clue how to set the carb close enough for the break-in runs.

It's a good carb though it's a bit small for a 500 ci in engine...it'll likely be lean but it depends on several things...cam..intake and how much ign you have and the latter having the most important roll in tuning for the street ...
I'm more than certain that I can point you in the right direction when the time comes...

The cam is a SW509 from Indy. I know it's probably a bit small for my engine but I was looking to keep it tuned down so it's somewhat reasonable for use as a daily driver. I'm going to be using a MSD 6AL and 1.6 ratio rockers. Compression should be at 10.5 to 1.

440-SR's CNC ported (by Indy) out to the MW port size. I'm using the Indy 440-2 intake as well.

I'm going to keep an automatic trans (727 or 518/618) in the car.
