Who's ready for a change?

The hosting account for MOPARnuts expires in September.

I've already got a virtual server account that gives me more control over server resources.

So, I'm planning a move for August, most likely.

Here's the thing, though - the newest version of our forum software is pretty dicey.
Even if they get all the bugs ironed out, I'm hesitant to buy in again. Mainly because of how they went about the release.

They released it as a beta trial version that had to be purchased.
Then they went through almost 40 beta versions.
And it still kinda sucks.
And it looks very different than what we have.

I'm thinking that if we have to go through a major shift to a new look and feel, I should move to a better platform, too.

I've got my eye on something that would let us bring almost everything over. We'd lose a couple of add ons, but I don't think they'll be missed.

The arcade would stay. Actually, the arcade was originally written for the software that I'm looking at.
The articles would stay. (I know. Who cares?)
The blogs would stay. (I know. Who cares?)
All of the forums would stay, of course.

My biggest concern is that we lost a bunch of people with the last big change.
Are we gonna lose everyone else?

Change is good. I say go for it.

The people that drift away because of changes to the site will also migrate away from wherever they went when they left here... maybe. ???

I've noticed a few old names popping back on here lately...

I'm with Resto on this one, go for it.

Peoples lives change. I disappeared for a bit, but I'm back. Facebook got big in that time too.

i think facebook stole alot from the site and there is nothing wrong with change. It is usually better with time when everyone gets used to the differences.

I slowed down on posting a lot for a long stretch mainly because i had other priorities to take care of in life, but i still checked in.

Just because we get older doesn't mean we have to be stagnet. Go for it if you feel that it is best for the site and easier on you.

Glad I'm not the only one in the FB hate club....:D The less people know about me the better....for me and them......:shifty

[smilie=l:NO CHANGE!!!! [smilie=l: What the hell is wrong with keeping things the same? !!!! All you smart asses with your smartphones and GPS always messing things up.

You kids! Get off my lawn!!!!

:D

I really need to get the hell away from the software we are running now.

The new version - which I haven't bought into - is a train wreck.
Worse, the company that now owns is a train wreck on a sinking ship. (In my opinion.)

I am also fighting all kinds of server issues here. The new server account will alleviate almost all of those issues.

....and just so you all know. I bought the new software this morning and installed it on the new server.

I'll be doing some testing over the coming months. I have to have the move sorted out before September.

I don't have it in a larger size. So, it would look crappy as your avatar.

However, type :nodda: whenever you want to use it, or just select it from the list of smilies. :D
