Worried :(

Sweet Avengence

drinkin' a cold beer

I had an accident on my way to work this afternoon. I had the green arrow to make a left turn and as I was starting to make my turn, a guy on a bicycle ran out in front of me. I couldn't hit the brakes quick enough to avoid hitting him.[smilie=f: When I went over to see if he was ok, I found he didn't speak a lick of English  A man standing across the street saw the whole thing and came over to help. We had pretty much figured the guy wasn't hurt, but his bike had a little bit of damage. It couldn't have been too bad b/c my front fender only has a bit of a scratch, and I was only moving at about 5mph when I clipped him. Anyway, the officer arrives and tells me not to worry, it wasn't my fault and the guy has refused medical treatment. He said nothing would happen to my insurance or driving record.

I still can't help but worry that this a$$wipe will come back and try to sue me over some "pain and suffering" or some crap like that. He even tried to tell me (in broken English) that I had to buy him a new bike. :wtf:

Well, I guess I'll swing over to the arcade and try to calm down a bit :)

Crap, that sucks. Move to Canada. We have an incident like that, then trade back bacon and have coffee. True story. :shifty:

did you share info? was there an incident report?

As best as possible. The cyclist didn't speak hardly any English. The officer that responded just took my information and told me that nothing would happen to my insurance or driving record since the dude on the bike ran the red light, it was his fault. The damage to my car was minimal. I was only moving at about 5mph, so it just put a good sized scratch on the bumper, which will probably buff out. If I can't fix it myself, I have a friend who professionally fixes stuff like this.

with the police report as such, I don't think you have any worries about a lawsuit even if he was able to bring one.

It sucks that it happened but sucks more if the guy was illegal. A buddy from work got in accident with an illegal, no insurance of course, it was the illegals fault and he got the ticket. He sued my buddy's insurance company a year later and won.
I'd get my side of the story with my insurance company asap. At least no one was seriously hurt.

I'm sure I don't, but I can't get rid of that little nagging feeling . The way the world is today, the responsible law abiding citizens get screwed while the assholes get rewarded.

Not to worry, in order for him to sue he has to find a mexican lawyer. What are the odds of that? :bwuhaha:
