Working on a Ford

Been putting the 71 on hold for another reason lol, been helping my dad work on his 58 Ford Fairlane 500 convertable with a 330 . I bought him some parts for fathers day and with work slowing down we had the chance to put them on. Its almost road worthy just needs some paint touch ups and exhausts and such. We have family coming to visit and he wants to take them for a ride so hopefully it will be on the raod at the end of August, will take some pictures.

Does the motor look like a 390? Could be wrong but I think those were 332s. I have a 59 police interceptor motor and its a 352. If its a Y-block it could be a 312. Either way Im sure its a fun old car. [smilie=e:

ok damnit i want a pic of that....since i think im the only other owner here with a 58 ford..(custom 300) 312 tbird interceptor

i too know the fealing of wanting to cruise in it..my disc's for it are being sent off to be made to fit next week

bah to hell with "clean" LOL ...does he get alot of..wow thats a nice 57 ford?

Not really half the people dont even know its a ford. But its been awhile since it was on the road, think 95 was the last time.

i just know that the 57 and 58 side profile is VERY close to the same ..i get alot of ppl thinking ive done cutom work to a 57 to make it look that way.....curiosity wich tail light set does it have..2 oval reds on each side...but does it have a reverse light between them?(been told that the reverse light was stock on all fairlanes)

Wow...is that car original paint? That looks like a little soap and water plus a new top and you'll be ready to go!

love it and missing mine(even tho mines going to be on the road for a last hoorahh befor FULL frame off redo)
dont get me wrong but i always hated the "59" rear chrome and fin work...always prefered the smooth custom 300 and 57 body side..still quite the old lady there ..wouldnt suprise me a bit if it was original paint..as mine still holds one hell of a shine as well..they dont pmake paint like they used to..
those mirrors arnt originals are they?....never found a 58 ford yet with the same set of mirrors..and mine are off of a 58 eddy but they so go with the headlight lines..also nice to see it still has the "targeting sights" lol mine lost em long long ago
btw is that a padded dash?!?!?!? or are my eyes playing with me?
just to let ya know since few do it seems...if you want to go discs on the front at any time..grab the spindles and all from a 75-80 granada and have the lowwer ball joint hogged 7 degrees..then there a direct drop in..or if you can find a lincoln verseles 75-80 then the spindles and all are a direct bolt in and go....god knows those 10 x1 1/2 front drums are spooooooky

Its not the original paint. Story is my dad's 1st car he ever bought by himself was a 58 ford with a 332 convert. He went to Vietnam in 69 and when he came back his brother sold the car on him [smilie=e:. So he searched and searched and found a car that was close to the one he once owned. And he painted it the color tones he had.
Not sure if they are the original mirrors [smilie=e:
