I've been looking to trade my F350 for a Cummins. I just got "permission" to proceed :D Like I need it, but I do need a signature on the title so I cleared it anyway. I found a couple guys locally that have them, one is looking for a 4wd work truck, mine fits his needs and the other is looking for a 7.3 Powerstroke. So, tomorrow my job is to swap in the new injectors I just bought so I can clear the SES light, clean 'er up and make a couple calls.

Hopefully by the weekend I'll be blowin black smoke with a DODGE!!! :giggedy:

I'm sure you need the 4 doors, but I'd endorse going with a 2002 and earlier 12V cummins motor over the 2003 and newer 24V units. But at least it's a real diesel engine.....6 in line to go please...:)

We got the 24V engine in the US in mid-'98 if memory serves. My friend's '99 is a 24V. The '03 thing was, I believe, a switch to the common-rail injection.

Yep, I need a real 4 door truck. Unfortunately I can't afford a Mega Cab and have to have a 4 forward door Quad cab, it's about a 3/4 crew cab (good thing about that is I'll never sit in the rear seat so it's not my problem) but it's in my price range. Yep '03 and '04 are common rail, 24V mid '98 thru '02, mid '98 and older have the 12V. I kind want a quieter truck, at least in cab, the 7.3 was nice and loud but I'm over that now :D

If I want that I'll go jump in the Charger

That one will probably have the nv5600 transmission. It's a beast of a transmission, and they don't generally give much trouble. However, be aware that if it does give trouble, parts for it can be VERY hard to find, and quite expensive. Also, this isn't one you'll want to be trying to rebuild yourself unless you have access to a trans shop-they require a lot of special tools. If that truck has the nv4500 5 speed then disregard all this-the only major problem with that one is that the 5th gear nut tends to back off the splines, and it doesn't even strand the truck when it happens.

To me, that's body style is the prettiest of the '94-'08 Rams. They screwed up the design of the headlamps badly in what--'06?

I've had a couple of 06's. They changed the headlights that year, but I like them fine. They illuminate the road better than the '03 to '05 lights do. I think my '09 half ton lights are even better than that, though none of them are as good as the lights are on my ex wife's '04 accord. For that matter, my old '74 duster (now owned by my best friend's wife) is better than an '03 to '05 dodge truck.

Round sealed beams are better than anything that's come since. Rectangular sealed beams are next-best.

I was speaking from a purely-aesthetic standpoint. The '02-'05s are better than the '94-'01s on the illumination, though. The worst headlamp illumination I've ever seen would have to be the 1st-gen Intrepid, though. Those things were awful.

You & I both know that. :(

After swearing at them for about 4 years I finally found the solution. It seems the OEM lens was designed as a "diffuser"? But it "diffused" it to the point of mere candlepower. I ended up buying some aftermarket headlights with just a clear lens instead of the diffuser. I think they were $50 each.....:hmmm:.....and worth every Gxd damn cent too.

That must have been after I rode in it, because on the way to Stretch's house that night, I couldn't see a damned thing. My focus may be off these days, but my night vision is still quite good. In fact, I think I mentioned how bad your headlights sucked that night, right down by the "dump road" on Breitung Cutoff Rd.

I had that car for 7 years and the first 2 were spent holding the dimmer switch in a position that activated both beams. I finally found those aftermarket lights about a year after you rode in it.

Now my '04 'Trepid is a whole different story. On brights it's damn near enough to singe the weeds in the ditch-line. [smilie=i:

As I've mentioned before, the high beams on the Black Bitch were 110W aircraft bulbs... at least, until I sold the hideaways. If you forgot to dim for me, you were going to have spots in your vision for a while. :D

If I could fit everyone I'd buy '99-'02 Ram Sport, that's my favorite of all the late models trucks with the brand new ones coming in a very close second.

If I needed a family car, I'd want a '69 Polara wagon. I could swap a 4BT into it, with a 47RH, and a 2.94 Sure-Grip rear... assuming I could find large-enough torsion bars. It would be my BMW: Big Mopar Wagon. :D
