i thought the 70-74 Ebody headers fit 71-74 B body cars
The fittment sounds iffy. Have you emailed the seller to get the actual part number?

also what are the tube things sticking up from the collectors for ?
The tubes look to be part of an exhaust driven crank case pressure scavenging system. It's the same principal as a venturi in a carburetor. The crankcase pressure gets pulled through the tube and out the exhaust system as the exhaust rushes by. This type of system is usually used on race cars as they seem to work better on high velocity exhaust systems. It could be a problem for you if they do emissions sniffer tests in your area.

my guess removing that coating would be a real bitch and getting the recoated would cost as much as new .
Removing the coating should be as easy as getting someone to sand blast them. The coating looks just about shot anyway. The local Jet-Hot coating company in MS that was near me used to charge about $150-$200 per set to coat most standard size headers. The blasting would be extra of course.

So, $150 for the headers (right now), $75 for sandblasting, $175 for re-coating = approximately $400 by the time you have a set of headers worth putting on a new looking engine in a new looking engine compartment... You DID say you wanted to be able to keep the hood UP at car shows right?

EDIT: I just rechecked he auction. The seller says "THESE WERE 700.00 NEW". Umm yea right... My coated TTI's were $750 for the Chally. This guy got raped if he really paid that kind of money and didn't go the extra $50 to just get the TTI's (IMHO of course :p ).

Those headers will fit but tight around the pass side torsion bar (need a little dimple on one tube)
I'd leave the coating and just scuff it and hit it with some Por 15 hight temp paint...also I'd cut off the Evac tubes on the collectors and have them welded up...nice header but might be a tad large (tube size) for your low comp hyd cam project...I'd use them...but I can tune around them ... Just my two cents worth...

Rob, what headers do you think I should use (size wise) for my 484 284 383? I will buy TTi's, I am betting, but never thought of the size...

XL...the smaller the tube the lower the Tq band...myself..I like the larger tubes so there's more room for improvements down the line...an 1 7/8 tube would be stretching it I would think (also depends on how much cyl head you have)
safe bet 1 5/8...IMO....but there's lots of variables that come into play...:)
