ok this is giving me a head ache none of the wheel cylinders i have been finding fit my 76 valiant the closest i found was from advance but it had different boots on the ends and the piston inside was flat instead of concave. every time i order one from there its the same style and it does not work = /. am i missing something ? i checked online and came up with all sorts of crazy ass looking wheel cylinder but none matched mine.

More details! 9" or 10" front brakes?

For 9" brakes I came up with PN WC37269/WC37270
Left/Right respectively
Those numbers fit 73 thru 76
For 10" brakes WC37286/WC37287
Left/right respectively
Those number fit 74 thru 76

I also found WC37172/WC37171
Left/Right those fit the 73 and back 10/11" front brakes.

These numbers are Raybestos ANY GOOD parts store (read: not Pep Boys AZ or Advance Auto) should be able to cross reference those numbers. If they've already given those parts and they aren't correct it's time for the disc conversion!!!

There are only 2 sizes for 75-76 ply A bodys...13/16= 6 cyl and 15/16=8 cyl front disk brake...their the same for each side no L+R...United 37235 or Wagner 78734 is the part number I remember selling...must of sold a couple of hundred of those...

Front wheel cyls...[smilie=2:...that's something that I don't even think I ever worked on...drum brakes all around...74-76 Valiant and Scamps would have that new style 1 1/8 front wheel cyls ...73 was the last year for 9" brakes so if I had to guess it would have those 74-76 only front wheel cyls ...73626 and 73627 (Wagner numbers)
good luck finding those...back in the day they were guppy parts (hard to find 2 year run only)
that would be my guess anyway

sorry yes they are 9 inch front drums but the one that advance said was for that size and year model doesnt work the push rod dont hold they just fall out . ill try to get some pictures to better explain what i mean .

I would go with the numbers that 71 Charger came up with...269-270.
I thought 9" brakes were 73 and earlier...good luck

well i finally got the one i need. it looks vitually identical and matched on the numbers you guys gave me sadly it cost me 40 bucks but oh well i knew when i got this car it wasnt gonna fix itself for free lol .i got it on and started putting the wheel back together and realised i dont remember how the cotter pin that holds the lock washer on goes back on :wtf:. it goes through the spindel but for whatever reason it has me stumped i dont know if i didnt pay attention when i took it off or it has been so long i forgot . oh well ill deal with it later its hot as hell outside im calling it a day lol.

disc conversion!!!
$$$$$$ lol not to mention im a newbie this the first car i have ever worked on uno banana (inside joke i mean by myself). i have a decent book knowledge of cars and how most things work i just lack any real experience besides watching and holding tools lol .

im pretty much the same.... except i have learned from just doing whatever i could to fix what i could or couldnt do at the time.... its a process.... :shifty:

You guys will do just fine. Part of knowing how to fix it is knowing how to break it. As in 'opps, that didn't go like I planned'. :)

Yep OJT is the only training that really works:huh:. Glad I could help with the #'s damn expensive MOPAR parts ohh well if they where cheap they would be called Chevies :bwuhaha::bwuhaha:

same here i managed to snap the break line and the bracket holding to the back of the wheel in one fel swoop still not sure how to fix it lol .

Just look at the other side for reference.

but i only have 1 jack lol and it under the car.... its not a big deal i remember how it goes now was just a big brain fart.

I hope you are not working on it just supported by a jack. Big nonono. Get some blocks of some sort under it for support. Many a person has not finished their projects because it fell on them as it was only on a jack.[smilie=2: Be safe an get er done.
