What would you do with this 70 Challenger/ Color-Motor, ect.?????Needs some ideas!!

"A MOPAR FOR EVERY MOOD"
OK, i am one of those guys with a million ideas running through my head, who can not pay attention to one project or idea long enought o finalize anything. I have a lot of projects here, NONE of which are really done. The 70 Cuda vert clone is all but done and just needs some pieces put on like the grille and all the chrome and a few odd and ends, but the major stuff is done. Now I cant even get excited about the car. I am more interested in what color for the this Challenger or what color for the 32 Plymouth or other projects I have sitting here.

I like RODS, and I like Max Wedge era cars, so i also bought a 64 Sport Fury that sitting in AZ that I ave to get back here, but I know what i am going to do with it, a 440 done as a 426 looking motor in a traditional era 64 car.

I also have a 57 Chrysler that I bought for $200. Its a 354 poly motor and I am going to make that into a HEMI and build it or maybe just stuff a 318 into it and drive it??? Who knows, but I know it wont be an expensive car or build and I wont put a lot into it either way.

I also have a little /6 driver Duster/ 1972 that I am going to keep a /6 for a few years and just drive it. I also need a color for this one.

Now comes this 70 Challenger. Its a rust free roller and the body will be easy to do. However I dont know what do to with it? I cant figure out if I go with another 440, like the 70 vert or the 64 Sport Fury. Or if I try and find a 340 or if I wait and go with a HEMI, which I probably will never be able to afford. or if I go with a touring car or something like that. Maybe updated engine, late mod stuff since there are a lot of sources for that stuff now with out huge mods to the car.

I have a moto, "A MOPAR FOR EVERY MOOD"> Ya know what I mean, if your in a mood for a drive in a vert and its a warn sunny day, go for a ride in a vert. If your in STREET fighter kind of mood, I can drive the DIRTY-BIRD, my 68 Roadrunner or maybe a 64 Sport Fury when and if it is ever here or close to being done!

If your in a nostalgia kind of mood, drive a ROD or a cheapos 57 rat rod with primer on it, get what I am saying?

So with I already have sitting here in mind, what would you do??? Go with the typical stuff, colors, ect, or something totally different.

Aly caolors or ideas are welcome. I am just tired of seeing the same ole crap at car/mopar shows.

My thinking on the challenger is a MPI 340, upgraded suspension and tires, with a blacked out ralley hood, or paint it white and do a "Vanishing Point" clone with the paint job. But thats just my two cents. I think everyone has their own ideas and opinion on that.

The 354 Poly sounds cool, i have a 318 Poly in my D100. To be honest, i'd just love to have that 57', whether it has a motor or not (i'm a fan of the 50's styling too)

But like i said, thats just my idea, i hear you on the "not being able to focus on one project", i had 6 at one time

I don't know about the engine/drivetrain combo, but I've been thinking about what the world needs lately, and I'm reasonably sure it's a black Challenger. Those bodies take dark colors very well, and not enough people have the nuts to do it. HI Impact is neat, but black (done the right way) is in a category of its own.
:bravo:
OOOOH! a boob smiley!:tats: Just noticed that one.

Late model Hemi with a 5 speed stick. Stiffen the chassis and and modify suspension. Boxed lower control arms and adjustable tubular A-arms. Poly bushings everywhere except for lower control arm. Sway bars front and rear along with 17" wheels wrapped with wide and sticky rubber....

Yeah, yeah that's it. :)

Here is my plan for a future engine/car combo. some sort of b/rb wedge stroker engine, auto with splitter or 6 speed. power everything with a modern stereo. updated chasis along the lines of what beeper stated with modern rubber/wheels. all this in an e body vert would be the ultimate but if I have to use my 71 challenger then so be it. restoring or restification it makes no difference, doing either to a mopar would deplete a serious roll of cash real fast. You have an excellent start though in a good rust free roller. Personally I would cram classic auto air in the 440+6 'Cuda you built, throw in a white gut and be just about the happiest man alive. :xl:

What would I do with it? Something like this http://www.moparnuts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3636 but without the hassle of having to swap it over to a 70 since it already IS a 70.

For color I'm having a tough time deciding between a Gunmetal Grey or Viper Blue. That blue is starting to look better and better every time I look at Nodda's Duster. But until I get all the body mods completed it'll be wearing a flat black suit for a while.

I dont know what you have for parts inventory so its hard to say what motor to install. Something big block anyways. Torqueflites are OK but real men row a pistol grip while doing smokies. Ive had 2 challengers- both orange. White highbacks for sure with black carpet. :toot:

im with ya on the one for every mood...dont ya wish ya could finish em all.....but then what the hell is a guy to do

is there such a color as purple black. black looking, but really purple. grey seats, black carpet. me know not too much about cars. it's really nice in my head anyway and i picture shiny black, mysteriously purple

Why are all the older 426 hemis cracked? I just got off the phone with a friend who thought he found one reasonably priced but when I told him where to look- sure enough the main webs were all gone. I guess the new crate hemi manufacturer is getting it right but they ended up recalling most of them from the last foundry. Almost 14 grand for a turd is pretty ridiculous.

Well, if it was mine (and you can give it to me if you want )....:toot:

I'd keep it that original green color, which is much more cool in my opinion than yet another purple E body!! then put a plain Challenger flat hood back on it cause it seems like EVERYONE puts on the Rallye hoods now. I guess I am just tired of the belly button cars that all look the same.

Next up a 4-speed with pistol grip of course, and a 440.

Basic and plain, low key, and mean. ;)

if i had either the parts or the cash ..id start with a 6spd trans ..either a viper or jag rearend...maybe a viper front suspension as well..then wrap it in 15inch rims and bfg radial ta's white letters out..motor could literaly be anything with this combo...id head for a sleeper look wraped in a cornering monster with old school rubber and wheels...no ones going to expect it to be a slolom car wearing 15's

here's what i see:

corvette yellow paint (in my opinion the only good yellow in the world), american racing torq thruster alloys, pistol grip shifter, flat black grill and (wtf is this called?) taillight area, the part that's reccessed........ and do whatever the hell you like on the hood.......

Where is the Lawfish Drag Car?
I did the 408 stroker touring car. If I had another ebody, it would be a pro touring style, House of colour... orange.

Rob, I am in the middle of having the 500 CI stroker built for the LAWFISH CUDA. I bought and build a 572 INDY MAXX motor for it, 950 HP and then realized I did not want to destroy the car as its a real 383 4 speed car.

So I sold the motor and am now building an E head 500 stroker using 440source.com rotating assembly. Should be in the 600-650 range.

I have a way of getting board with projects and go from projhect to project- It also depends on what I find as well.

I would really like to start this 32 Plymouth, but the 392 HEMI I ahve is going to cost quit a bit to build compared to any 440 motor.

I do have 440s and 383s. i have whole 4 speed set up for an E body.

as far as the 64 Sport Fury goes, I just bought one of those AAR fiberglass max wedge hood scoops. I will have it in a couple of weeks but I still ahve to go get the damn car.

I think what I have decided to do is build another 496-500 strokr 440 with iron heads and store it for the 64 sport fury and for now, decide on a color for the challenger and do the engine bay this summer.

I am going to start finishing the vert cuda and the 68 Roadrunner next weekend.

I need to get them so they are all but done. I am also doing the /6 duster fro summer transportation.

too many projects, not enough $$$$$$ or time or help. I am actually not very skilled on any mechanical stuff and do mostly the body and paint stuff my self. So I tend to trade out for help in the mechanical end of thing. I ahve had three surgeries on my wrists and hate to say it but can hardly hold onto a wrench with out it falling out of my hands.
