"A MOPAR FOR EVERY MOOD"
I am curious on what music you guys/ga;s like and why. I am also curious as to your age, which typically set this music standard for some.

I personally like very different types of music.

I am a student of old surf music and bans like Dick Dale, the Challengers(the band, not the car/ although I do have and like them) and many many old and newer surf bans. Ilke the sound.

I am also into old 50s music and even the 40s through the 60s like Sinatra, Ella and the like. Also a uge Harry Conick fan for the same events such as having a scotch and cigar.

Now for working out, I like hard rock, like Tool, ect.

I am an avid fan of older rock from my era, the 70s, like Foreigner, Boston, The Nuge/ thats Ted Nugent, and the bands of that era- seems they have long gone. Still some around playing small gigs with no new music. I LOVE the Eagles

Any one have some goodf new music to pass on for what ever.

When cruising, Ilike 'REV ON THE REDLINE/ BY FOREIGNER. "ITS UNDERSTOOD, I HAVE 400 HORSES TUCKED UNDER MY HOOD". That was a great song.

For know knwoing how to play a lick of anything on any instrument, I am an avid music dude.

Does any one have some reccomendations on other stuff>>>

I just bought an album by a band called "PROTO-KAW, any one ever heard of them. It containes two of the members of KANSAS, I liked the album, made me think.

just thought I would ask a light questions after my last one and see if we have anything in common.

Oh well, almost time for bed.

Pretty much anything that is well played, shows some real musical ability across all genres.

Rap & Hip Hop of course do not fall into any of those above descriptions...:D

Kansas was a musician's band. A little pompous, but serious players nonethe less. Which two members are in this new band? I might have to check it out.

Just turned 28 and I mostly listen to metal and rock of all types. Some rap but only certain people, I hate country and that's about it. As a guitar player I just like the way rock/metal songs seem to grab ya and drag ya along for a ride! Oh I forgot, I like blues too. I just love the sound of real in your face guitar riffs and the intensity of the music.

Lynn Merideth/ lead singer for the original older KANSAS.

Then Kerry Livgren, the guitarist/ song writer for all songs on Proto-KAW. has some thinking songs and they sound like they have some of their apocaliptical songs in there, also made me think.

Rock, oldies, and just recently (in the past few months), old blues (Robert Johnson, Son House, etc.).

If it was available on vinyl or 8-track and the artist wears a cowboy hat, I'll listen to it.

Heavy metal/hard rock. Classics like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath ect... Hair bands from the 80's, New age such as Pearl Jam, Tool, Korn, Rob Zombie, Stone Temple Pilots.....

There is a new band getting much radio time here called Wolf Mother that combines some 70's style with new age and really gets my toes tapping.

40 here.

Just about anything except hip-hop, rap and opera...
Mainly, blues, rock, some folk stuff - especially stuff with lots of guitar and other stringed instruments.

For the most part, if it doesn't involve wailing lyrics (where a word is sung longer than it needs to be), the melody has a good cadence to it and the musicianship is solid, I'll listen to it.

A lot of the "rock" stuff I like now - I didn't like when it was "big" on the radio.
I think that's because I've gotten more into the old blues stuff and now I can hear the blues influence in that stuff.

Rock and Roll...:giggedy:

I'd sooner have my teeth pulled than listen to Rap and some of this other new stuff that passes for music.

Depending on the mood, the music ranges from Marty Robbins to Pantera. I don't dig rap or modern country, but the old stuff is good. Beeper, check out Fireball Ministry. I've been liking their music lately. It's a good blend of 70's metal (think old Sabbath & Scorpions) and good grooves. I've also never, ever seen a better live show than Ted Nugent. No fireworks & special effects, just the Nuge, a bassist, a drummer, and a shitload of amps.

pretty much anything more than 15 years old. oh, and i hate country, opera, classical, jazz, etc. not really a big rap fan, but the real old stuff is ok. plus i like rock.......... led zeppelin, doors, motley crue, zz top........ isn't there another post like this around somewhere????

42 here.
I like just about anything that shows talent - musically or vocally.

EXCEPT Rap,Hip-Hop or Opera.

Folks who can really sing will get my attention every time - Jim Reeves, Nat King Cole, Rob Thomas...Even David Lee Roth and Karen Carpenter!

Guitar rock or some kick-ass bassists will do as well.

Discovered a new band recently. Rebel Meets Rebel. It's Davin Allen Coe and the guys from PanterA minus Phil Anselmo. Too bad they won't get the chance to do a second RMR album:(

28 here. I listen to rock. I switch back and forth on my sirus stations from 60's, 70's, and 80's. Like some new age stuff, but mostly I'm stuck in the 70's/80's era. :shifty:

I am 42.
I've heard alot and tried to LISTEN to alot. Tried to keep an open mind. I love music. Everything form Classic to Heavymetal, Jazz to Blues.
Grown up w/ Disco ( KC @ the Sunshine band ,BeeGees ) on the AM and athough its not the best it better that Gangrap crap and Rap-Crap . IMO. and the the later 70's -early 80's, Rock on the FM.
Lynyrd Skynyrd had an influince an me in my teen years. AND one of the greatest bands ever. Today I consider them a Tribute band , ONLY !. Its night and day .
Areosmith rocked, still do.TedNugent ,wild man, entertainer.
The Mighty Led Zep, set the music bar. The Rebellios "WHO",
Boston's "1" debute selling album of all time I can still here and sound as fresh as the day it came out. Same goes for Pink Floyd's '"Dark side of the Moon" Timeless. Was just recently tahen off the chart as the #1 greatest selling album of all time ! Because it still being purchased.
AC/DC torn t all up in the w/ the boogie beat lead riffs hard rythym cranked up! Van Halan showed the world how much more was on the fret's, and they began to follow his lead.
Eric clapton's rule continued for another decade and wasn't about to stop.
And when he Bowed his hat the the Late great Stevei Ray Vaughn, which I heard for the 1st time in "84" ,was blown away. You knew a great musician was amongst us. Paralleling JIMI HENDRIX !! Another one who broke the standard.

Still listen to blue oyster cult,Deep purple, Steve miller, Rolling Stones ,
Have so many albums still, cant thoink of them all right now.
I like Country once in awhile, Hank william, Jr. and even some of the new stuff, though I cant think of their names, Its good .

I consider myself a more of a Rocker on the blues side of influenced. But I do like to crank it up at times and mix in some heavy electrified chords !!

"You can still rock in america , all day, all night ."
"You can still rock in ameeeerrrriiicccaa .!!!! "

Neil Young ranks right up there plus a lot of the others that have been mentioned. BTW Resto My wife and I grew up listening to Karen Carpenter.
