ok what would ya choose?..a aluminum 2.5 v6 true hemi putting out about 150hp or a 4cyl 2.5 turbo putting out about the same HP..both coupled to diferent 5spd's...both weighing in about the same but the v6 can rev much higher

the turbo could be boosted up to a reliable 200-250hp the v6 on the other hand with nothing more than a diferent MAS and a set of cams could be pushing out 250-300hp....rebuilds on the v6 would be almost double that of the 4cyl

yeah im thinking lloyd ..to my left i have a 90k original mile 2.5 turbo and 5spd ..to my right i have the exotic sound of the alfa v6 2.5 hemi with a killer close ratio 5spd with 60k original miles

heres what ya need to see

I would go with the Mopar 2.5 turbo because;

1) An inline developes better low-end torque for better overall drivability.

2) The turbo on-tap will provide ample hp for when you want it.

3) Much easier to do repairs on.

4) Cost of parts for said repairs.

if you ant that sleeper look use the 4 cyl.....:bwuhaha:less space to use up.... but if you don,t mind sitting in the back seat and showing something out of the hood weell - use the hemi... i like suprises so i would go with the 4 cyl and let them fig out what is under the hood:bwuhaha::bwuhaha:

im on the fence atm...

turbo =21-25mpg at 65-70
hemi =30-33 doing 90-100 on the freeway
torque is very evenly matched on the 2 of them..course when your talking this light weight torque isnt needed badly
both fit under the body cleanly with the hemi up front well under the hoodline with lots of room to spare giveing a almost flawless 50/50 weight balance where the turbo would be out back with something like a 20/80 balance and alot more heat under the roof

on the hemi side of things ive actualy got 3 sets of electronics, ingetors, igniton parts and a spare 80k mile engine

on the turbo there plentifull

the turbo will require alot more effort to mount up ..where the hemi would be supplying a sweet rack and pinion 4 piston disc front suspension and a transaxle out back with inboard 4 piston brembo brakes..

in 1-3 years alfa will be back in the states and prices for parts should drop to about the same as the turbo.....there still useing the 2.5-3.0 engine in there new cars but have changed to 24 valve

is the 2.5 turbo still in production?

I'd go with the 2.5 Would be a shame to pull the Alfa's motor and just leave the car sit there. Es[especially since you say it is so much fun to rip around in.

uhhh guess i shoulda mentioned....i was given a second alfa thats "complete"..but a 4dr...needs exhaust but otherwise road worthy

Oh, well then by all means... :p 68 had a good point with the 2.5 though. I'm sure Alfa motor parts are hard to come by and kinda spendy. :huh:

actualy there not as hard to come by as one would think...by no means are they as plentifull as a 2.2/2.5 common block....but when was the last time you came across one of those with less than 100k miles..the average alfa has been parked for over half its life so the average engine you find is well under the 70k mile mark and the whole car had for around 500-1000$..alfas are basicaly worthless unless your parting them out

on a side note thoe...if i go hemi i can at any point upgrade to one of the 24v 3.0's and its a bolt in and go no changeing anything.....the engines were so well made and made such good power that there still useing them over 25 years later with only a change to the plenum and ignition system

no matter what i do im going with an alfa front suspension as its badass stock with torsions but provisioned to remove the t-bars and drop in a set of coilovers

both :D
seriously I like the sound of front engine vs go-cart style. 20:80 would be fun in a straight line but a handling nightmare.

The Alfa parts aren't too expensive?!?! I figured they would be really outrageous, That may be the way to go then, especially if the cars can be picked up cheap. I would like to hear the sound bite from the Alfa.

I did love to hear my SHO screaming up around 6800 rpms, with the secondaries opened up, I used to hold it there in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

i bounce off the rev limiter on almost every shift in the alfa that im keeping....
as for costs..alfa's arnt all that expensive its just the waiting period to get the parts due to them not being in the usa currently but there suposed to be back in 08/09...the only point at wich an alfa gets expensive is when your talking about replaceing the cylnder liners(1500$) for the set of 6 without slugs..but you can go snag a low milage engine for less than that.(hell i could grab a 3.0 24v engine for about 1k with about 60k miles on it shiped from europe)..the other expensive point is the transaxle itself there notorious for haveing a bad second gear syncro and about 2k to have rebuilt...the milano that id be snagging all the parts from has a LSD transaxle and a smooth second gear..the gtv6 that im keeping and drive constantly has pretty much lost second gear syncro but as the alfistys say the trans will re-teach you how to drive around second gear

cost me all of 50$ total includeing shipping to rebuild all 4 calipers on the gtv6..for all intent the milano and the gtv6 are the same cars save for a slightly more modern efi on the milano and the milano being 4dr..ill see about a sound clip later tonight when it cools down outside

in the past 6 months ive seen atleast 4 alfas on ebay with in 150 mile radius sell for under 500$ all around the 60-80k mile range

Drop in a 350 chevy! Hell, be like everybody else :bwuhaha:

*puts on fireproof suit........waits for moparnuts wrecking crew to arrive to give well deserved ass beating*

if i was considering V8 it would have already secived a 318....theres just no room for a v8 without stretching the front end a minimum of 8 inches

Ass beating would not be enough for that comment, I'll stop next week and pick up my new Challenger :bwuhaha:

I think that would tip me to the Hemi. Engine plus running gear beats Engine only.
