Hiding In The Bushes While
I was bombing around the countryside with my '79 Cadillac Coop Devil and the oil light came on and stayed on! [smilie=2:

So I stopped, checked the oil......... It's fine.

So I checked the wire that goes to the sending unit and it's connected. [smilie=e:

Could I have hurt that 425 by doing those doughnuts on the highway? [smilie=e: [smilie=e:

pull the sending unit out and check for sludge.
and replace the sending unit there too, they arent that expensive.

Theres a guy over on sweptliners that has the same problem with a derby car caddy. Flushed it out with diesel and atf and its doing great last time I heard. [smilie=e:

Well I played around with it a bit and started her up and the oil light went out right away.

Took her for a spin around the back 40and well.......................

Mark another one up behind the Dart. [smilie=e:

Yup, on my way back to the yard the oil light came on and before I made it home she seized solid. [smilie=e:

Piece of crap GM.

I am staying away from Caddy's for ever now!

Two Caddy lemons in a row is annoying. [smilie=e:

My father had a Pontiac Lemans that did the same thing...sounded the same and everything. Of course before it seized I threw some de-sludging product in there...I have no memory of what it was, but I remember being freaked out that you had to drain most of the oil before you used it. The amazing thing was how much MORE came out that I put in. We then drove it around a little, changed the oil the next day and beand new oil looked like it had been in the car for years. Ditto two more changes. Finally on the third change the oil looked normal and the car was running much quieter and overall like "new." It was one of those Buick V-6s that GM put in everything back in the 80s.
