This had better not cut into our yarding time.
Stretchy called me from the hospital a little while after Carlee was born. She was apparently unhappy about something (probably being cold

) and good Lord, that little one's got some pipes on her! He was bubbling over with joy and gratitude. I've never seen or heard him so happy. He stopped by the store this morning and was 7 feet tall... because he was walking on air several inches above the floor.
What was really fun was talking to Stretch's Dad this afternoon. He called the store and I got to chat with him for a few minutes. When I answered and he said, "Hi, Pierre, this is Skip" I answered with, "Well, hello Grandpa!" and I could literally hear him light up over the phone. We laughed about Stretch already being the doting father--"Dad, hold her this way" etc., as if Skip hadn't been through this 36 years ago.

Stretch's Mom and Dad are both excited to finally have a little girl around, too... they really wanted a granddaughter. Though Stretch never said it, Skip assured me he was hoping for a daughter as well.
One potential problem: apparently this child figured out only minutes from the womb the value of a pouty, quivering lower lip. Good luck with that, Dad.
Stretch and Sidekick: I think you both know how much you both mean to me, and how much I love you two. I haven't been able to express (and can't, I guess) my joy for the two of you regarding this most-blessed of events. May this Christmas and New Year be your best ever in an upward spiral of greater things to come... I've not met a couple that deserves it more. God bless you and your new family.
Oh, and speaking from experience: in what seems like two months you'll wonder how it's possible she just turned 14. Trust me on this.
