Went to go get another car...

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing...so I'm
Well yesterday we, my neighbor and I, went to pick up a 63 Impala that he just bought last week. The trip went great! Weather was super, maybe 20*C (70*F) at the hottest. Trip up and down was about 420 miles, and I only burned about 17 Gallons of fuel!! We left at 8:30am and got back around 7:45pm.

Anyone who's driven BC Hwys knows the big mountains you have to cross, over 4100 feet and lots of 8-11% grades. The truck did super, sure glad I had the Pyro gauge though. I have a Post turbo set-up, and on a couple pulls I was 950-1000*, so about 1200-1300 at the manifold. Figured out pretty quick if I dropped a gear and slowed down the temp would drop fast and hold at about 800* (1100 at manifold). So most of the big pulls I did at about 35-40 MPH.

Here are a few pics....

I actually like those mid 60's Impalas, as long as they're not all "Homie'd" up. Looks like a pretty clean, solid ride.

Yeah no gangster-ing on this one. Nice clean original style look to it is the goal. It needs a bit of rust repair, and the driver quarter got punched out when the axle came loose and walked out. But it came with new repro panels for that. Been neglected for 7-8 years, missing motor and such.

It's funny...it had mopar fender mounted turn signal indicators on the fenders, and the chrome drivers side mirror is a mopar piece as well. And when we open the trunk it had a mopar Cop car rim and tire as the spare....I got all those for free too. :)

BC does have some nice scenery don't it.....:)

Chrysler should have kept the crewcab in production right through to 93. With the cummins motor available from 89-93 in this body style they would have sold a million cummins powered crewcabs.

agreed cow..and add to that that they should have cut the back half off a ramcharger and tacked it onto the 4dr truck cab making a ....you guessed it suburban.....and before someone states chevy name..ill say look to the 50s mopars

Had they only known in 85...:( The loss of the big block definitely killed the sales of the crew, but if they could've held on, it would've sold like crazy, especially considering the price difference between a Dodge and the other big two back then.
