Crap - did the year ever go by fast.... ...seems like yesterday we were celebrating last year's festivities.

Enjoying the start of my first day off in over 7 weeks.

Going to go have lunch with my co-workers and then off until we re-open on the 27th.

We busted our balls loading in & setting up all of the New Years stuff yesterday so that we could take the 4 consecutive days off.

Me n' Wifey are going to the farm to spend Christmas Eve & Day - then back to spend Boxing Day with my family.....[smilie=c:

What are all of you doing?

Merry Christmas everybody - be safe - drive carefully.

Lisa and I are going to be with her family Christmas Eve and do the dirty santa thing. Then, on the 29th and 30th, all the stars and planets are aligning such that my family will all be in one place at the same time. (There are 3 kids in college, scattered all over.) This rarely happens, so we'll go to Oak Ridge, TN to be with everybody.

I always enjoy this time of year, once the shopping is done. ;)

Z's mom is coming over this evening for gift exchange and a movie. Tomorrow evening I'm prepairing dinner for my mom, stepdad and my brother (barney) then we all will attend a candlelight church service. Christmas day Z and I exchange gifts then off to her sisters for dinner. Next weekend my family will gather at the nursing home where my grandparents reside for more food and gift exchanging..

We've adjusted our plans this year.

Since our own family is big enough to fill a room, we're doing Christmas Eve with our kids and grandkids. That'll put 9 people around the dinner table. We usually do Christmas Eve with my wife's family.

Christmas Day will be our day to stay home and enjoy ourselves. We usually do Christmas Day dinner with my side of the family.

On the 30th, my wife's brother comes into town, so we all get together then - again. This year this will be our only time with that side of the family. It works fine for him. It should be fine for us. Yes? We're getting grief over this from her sisters, but I don't care. They don't understand why we're doing it and I'm not going to stress over trying to explain it to them. They won't listen anyway. If they do listen they'll just argue with us.

On the 1st, my side of the family gets together at our place. We started this a couple of years ago to burn off the supply of leftovers. We made some fresh stuff too of course. We missed it last year because my wife had to work. That should never be a problem again because she retired last week.

While it still seems like a lot when I spell it out like that, we used to do a whole lot more. We would do Christmas eve brunch with the kids and grandkids then scoot over to the in-laws for dinner. Get home in time to set up for Santa and go to bed. Wake up early with a turkey hangover and open gifts. Then get ready to go to Christmas dinner at my brother's house. Then do the deal with my brother-in-law which sometimes happened on boxing day. That's 4 Christmas meals. This year, we'll have 2. Maybe 3 depending on what we do Christmas day but even then, it'll be just the three of us at home that day.

We usually do nothing on New Year's Eve unless the weather is decent and there's a good band at the Niagara Falls party.

I'm off until Jan 2, but I do have some work to get done before then.

And I'd like to upgrade the board here, too.
I think I'll need a good chunk of time to do it as this will be a major upgrade and all of the little tweaks and enhancements will need to be updated too.

DCF--you do a good job with the board thanks. me i just learned how to turn it on and let it sleep. i swore up and down i would never touch one of these things. so now i can type and read more and things are nice that way.hahaha... but you - your smart at this and i like that. keep up the good work as far as i am concerned you maybe need a raise or something. i know it won,t motivate you any moore than you are now but i thot i would put a plug in there for you being it,s xmas and all hahaha. i get told about this but i can wait the 4-6 weeks ..THANKS DCF--YOU DA MANHAHAHAHAHA ---ORVIL:D :bwuhaha: [smilie=::

Aw shucks.

I learned a lot doing this stuff.

Someone once called me a tweak freak and they weren't talking about drugs. Doing this stuff brings me backed to the days of hacking DOS and Win3.1 to make it run better. I tend not to do that with WinXP. So, the board is a bit of a release for me.

Yup, thanks DCF. This is a cool place to hang out.

We're low key around here at Christmas. All my family is in Cape Breton, most of my wife's family live down Chatham/Blenhiem way. Her parents live about a half hour away so they usually show up Christmas day and stay till we boot them out. :)

Marieanne and I usually stay up late Christmas Eve, wrapping presents, drinking some good sweet wine and watching "It's a Wonderful Life". I can quote entire scenes from that movie. This year everything is wrapped, so the wine tasting may begin earlier and extend later into the night.

Christmas dinner is held here - my wife is a fantastic cook (witness my ever-expanding waistline) - with the in-laws and anyone we know who may be alone at Christmas. Last year we had 9 for dinner, this year it'll be just 6.

Life is too rushed sometimes, so we just take the time to relax, sniff the turkey cooking, and enjoy as much "free time" as possible.

This Christmas is going to be different than the ones before. It used to be that we all congregated at Grandma's house for just about every major holiday including Christmas. It's hard to remember a year that we weren't there at Christmas time. Since Grandma passed away back in September no one was really sure where we'd be gathering. Thanksgiving was the first holiday after her passing and we all went to my mother's house. It's been completely remodeled and is very nice. There was plenty of room for folks and everything went well...that is except for my aunt putting the sweet potatoes w/marshmallows on top too close to the broiler element and setting them on fire :D: D Sweet taters flambe anyone ? :D Anyway, it looks as if Mom's will be family central from now on. Its feels odd not being at Grandma's house, but this is cool too.

Merry Christmas to all y'all and we wish y'all a very happy, safe, and prosperous new year.

Yes, this is a great place dodgechargerfan. Thanks! :)

Well, my husband and I will be doing what we do every year. Spend every holiday with his folks, his brother & family. My relatives are so spread out, I feel like an orphan. Nothing too exciting will be going on. Eat dinner, watch the ball game, and referee the kids. :doubt:

my fam is in 3 states, NJ, TN and TX..... since im in NJ i just basically hang out with my mom, bro, sis in law, niece and 2 nephews.... its like a circus... but, im sure i'll be on the pc most of the day...
