We are repainting my 340...

I have serious issues, so I'm
but I will update later with pictures. :toot:

Right now my 340 is body color (green) and I got tired of the color. Since we pulled the engine to put in the new tranny and to do some cleaning in the engine bay, we figured we might as well change the color of the engine too.

Stay tuned. ;)

I was actually thinking of red, then I remembered Christmas colors. EWWW!!

We just dropped the engine and trans back in. Doing that with headers in A-bodies SUCK! Next time we are getting TTI's, it will be worth it just to spare the aggravation.

I would update with pics, but the camera is in the garage. I could just go get it, but that would require energy, which I am lacking after fighting this thing for over an hour.

I kinda thought the red would be pretty vibrant against the green. Never really thought of it as a Christmas theme since the green is pretty bright.

Don't you have kids or a husband that could go fetch it for you? :D

LOL yes abody headers SUCK big time...actualy as long as you leave the drivers side in place at all times and just unbolt it from the engine its not half as bad

what about using the durango/dakota exhaust manifolds? heard its great for a-bodies

Well, it is not done yet, but we are getting close. The new trans looks sweet, we painted it with a cast iron paint color and it has a new deep 2 qt. aluminum pan. I love the new engine color too, but we had a bitch of time getting all that old green paint off. It was worth it.

Before

Old and new converters

Ugly green chipped paint 340

Engine bay mess!

Pretty new trans! I just hope it works as good as it looks. ;)

And this is the color I decided on, good old Chrysler corporate blue.

Thank GOD it is finally back in place, those headers suck!!!!

View of my new tranny pan and ugly headers. That pan is the last view any racoon in the road will see. :D

I stripped the old black paint off my M/T valve covers, that alone took hours as I had to scrape in between all those fins. We painted them in the same cast color as the trans.

i love cast paint for alot of items...what did ya use to strip the covers??....oven cleaner in short bursts is nice..or a day in brake fluid is king(nothing a tooth bursh cant remove once done soaking)

i like the tranny holder lol

I used aircraft stripper (hee hee I said stripper).

It worked good if I really coated it and let it sit for about 20 minutes. But it still took forever to scrape stuff out of all the nooks and crannies. Maybe time I'll try the brake fluid thing. :)

Yeah, my husband made a handy dandy holder out of angle iron to build the trans on, then bolted it to an engine stand. Worked great!

Excellent! Those valve covers look wayyy better than before. Never have been a fan of the black painted aluminum covers.
Looking forward to more pics of the finished project. :)

sweeeet. :)
You will love the TTi headers, if yah get em. I slept with mine for days....

You should ask NAD about how much he likes TTI. :D

That looks good DG. Big improvement over the green and those valve covers looks pretty sharp with that cast paint on them.
