Wanting....727

Not A Duster

Well-known member
Small block 727 for the demon - looking for something that shifts and works nice - slippy and sloppy junk I got - if I need to rebuild it, might as well do one of these.

Shift kits/performance upgrades are a bonus, but lemme know what you got. Price is an object.

Obviously something in western Canada would the most cost effective - but I'm interested in further off stuff if the price is right - might just be a good excuse for a road trip seeing as I'm unemployed for a bit. .

Not enjoying driving it in city traffic. And we built the car to drive it - open roads a different thing, but 75% of the miles we put on are in the city. Besides Shelley doesn't dig driving a stick at all, and I want her to take part in the driving part of the car thing, not just sitting in the jump seat. (She a farm girl, so she certainly can drive a standard, she just really doesn't want to.)

I've got one for yah Nodda, it was in that green '78 3/4 ton I have, it seemed to shift nice through all the gears the two times I drove it with that broken 360 V6 and it's not an original Chrysler piece since it's painted blue, if your interested shoot me a PM.

I've got a B&M Trans-Pak for it if you want too. :)

If you use a truck trans, make sure you change the governor. Not much exciting about 4200-RPM upshifts.

What? That's the general RPM at which truck transmissions upshift under full throttle... about 1800-3000RPM short of the 340's happy place.

Yup - thanks Doc - wasn't doubting you...just one of those things I should have remembered, but didn't. (Not possessing a brilliant computer - like brain such as yours. )

So: riiiiggghhhttt - now I remember.......should have known that....feel so stoopid....

The only thing computer-like about my brain is the constant crashes, freezes, blue screens with unrecognizable gibberish on 'em. :D

I think it's very cool that you want Shelley to get some wheel time, for the record. It's always more enjoyable for the spouse/partner/hetero lifemate to appreciate the total experience, not just ride along with you. Of course, in my case it cost me a 340 about 18 years back, but still... :D

Farm girl, huh? She can probably drive the 4-speed better than you could.
