FWIW I read an article yesterday where the chip companies are pointing at the auto manufacturers's use of obsolete parts that they can no longer make affordability. They need to either step on up, start manufacturing their own chips, or get left behind.
Also FWIW some of you know what I work on and until not long ago it was running on a 386SX processor, then parts of it were upgraded to a Pentium - woo-hoo - due to the same mindset the auto companies have - it's certified, it's fast enough, it still works, so why would we change it?
