VIN Tag Rivets?

Hiding In The Bushes While
Ok Ok! I have a very LEGAL reason for wanting then.[smilie=f:

I want to swap in a two speaker dash and I want too keep the original VIN tag, some one drilled abunch of holes in the original dash too for something I don't know.

I doubt anyone is makin them funky little six sided ones are they?

eBay?:doubt:

Ford used to sell them, but last I heard they were discontinued.

Fella by the name of Frank Parks down in GA used to have a bunch of 'em... I have no information on how to get in touch with him. He seemed a little off-center, but used to have tons of cool parts. Big A-car fanatic, as I recall.

He had a bag or box of those rivets; don't expect 'em to come cheaply if'n you can even locate him.

Oh they probably aren't cheap but I would rather pay that then be acused of tag swapping and get the fine and jail time that goes with it.[smilie=f:

I found these but they don't quite look right.:hmmm:

A yellow robertson screw would do.[smilie=f: Just kidding....:shifty: I did see some for sale at Moparfest two years ago. 10 bucks apiece.

I think I have the same problem. Someone redid my dash with simple black vinyl and it looks sick. along the way they scratched the vin tag. Doesn't the vin tag have to be swapped if I get a dash pad? I will need to get one when I go to do the interior and that is coming up some time soon.

ive cheated this in the past...grind the rivit off on the bottom side of the dash to preserve the top half...then use a lil jb-weld to re attatch the old rivit..it works

I was thinking of that but if it come off.[smilie=f:

Cool beans! My car is no show queen and never will be so bring on the J-B weld :) On a side note I think at 10 bones a pop it would be nice to retool and make a good living out of making rivets.

What about a little baby tack weld to the back side of the rivet?:hmmm:

I REALLY wish someone started makin those stupid things.:doubt:

I think there's probably some legal reasoning behind it. I'm sure more fakes would surface with something like that available as well.
