This is such a stupid statistic. 90% of new-car buyers don't order their new rides, they pick one with the options they like at a price they can swing, right off the lot. Of course white will be the most popular, since the automakers build more non-order white cars than any other color. It's less expensive for them and inoffensive to shoppers, plus it helps dealers at trade-in time. After a few years, white is showing every type of flaw that virtually any other color would conceal to some extent.
My, uh... thrifty older brother proudly told me that he chose his white '14 Chevy because it was $180 less than the identical (and gorgeous) metallic blue one on the same lot. I said, "That'll cost you a couple of grand at trade-in, y'know." He was verklempt at the realization. His traded '00 Ford was dark metallic green, and despite some serious rust issues, it still looked pretty good.
