Valve Sadness

C.M.F.

Can't Make Friends
:doubt: Problem: 97/96 Neon 2.0l SOHC

It all started with a little oil leak....

So I started by removing the cylinder head to replace the original gasket...
Project was going along fine until I forgot to tighten the cam sprocket bolt..

I soon found oot what happens... at an idle, I heard a snap and the engine died....

Who knew the line up pin would break? :wtf: and that is what keeps the pulley from spinning on the end of the cam.

Next step was to grab the spare head and remove the cam. I AM going to make this work. According to HAYNES, The head MUST be removed from the vehicle to change the cam..... WRONG!!
It can be done in the car, just remove the ECM from where it resides and move the wiring oot of the way and all 19 inches of cam will slip oot of its resting place.

So there is a new head gasket, bolts, valve cover gasket, and now a used cam into this little project. Time for start up...... again.....

Now I have an engine miss...
Stupid interference engines:mad: ... Cylinders 1 and 3 now have no compression[smilie=2:

Just what I wanted to happen:dgt:

So.... I order ANOTHER head bolt set and gasket and wait for the blood pressure to come back down to normal levels....

See what stupidity does?

That sux, but if it's just the valves and no holes in the pistons, you're ahead of the game...

Bummer dude

Aint wrenchin FUN? This is where I usually get them in, after somebody forgot to do something rather important like that. Like when I had to pull the engine in my daughters car last summer to change the timing gears in the middle of no where. My mom said arnt you glad you know how to fix stuff? Mom, I wish I never even owned tools at this point.:dgt:

Had I not been sick for the last week and in and out of the hospital I could have help ya bud. We would not have over look that I think. But on the bright side I feel better.

Perhaps that is better phrased. Had I gone to the doctor sooner I may have not ended up in the hospital.

Crap that suks, the lil heifer has been sick all week and I almost took her in a few times but shes feeling better now.
