Two 800 hp rb's going to be for sale

I have a couple of old customers that want really big engines to replace their 500 ci engines...so their selling the old to get the new...(these were street cars )
these engines are for the most part WAY beyond most here on the board...but these are the real deal... one is all Crower and JE and the other is Bryant and Oliver combo with JE's..
I'll probably break them up as their worth more in pieces than whole but the blocks might be worth looking into...
I don't know how much there looking to get out of them...but I can see the blocks going for 1/2 what is in them...
so if you know anyone looking these guys will pay a bird dog fee...

What blocks? I might be interested in a block, though my 517 will be a lowdeck. Unless a retarded deal comes up for a mega or indymaxx...

v8...sorry but no Indy or Meg blocks :( ...just the best RB blocks we could find at the time (looked through dozs to find the best) with billet caps installed and the lifter bores indexed with cast bushings and all the other machine work you need to make 800 plus hp...almost $4000 cdn in parts and machine work in each block...
I'll probably end up with them...:giggedy:

v8...what stroke are you going to use ??4.300..isn't that going to be one Really $$$ set of pistons...I'd be a little worried about where the pin is going to end up...
these ones were 1200.00

Sheesh, that's way too much money in a stock block for my tastes. Even counting the fact that it's Canadian dollars you're talking about, no way. Get a megablock and have a much stronger bottom end to start with. If I had to use a stock block for a 500, it'd damn sure be a lowdeck, as with my 517.

Sounds interesting :)

couple of questions Rob :

4.15 or 4.25 crank ?
How much static compression ?
Hard block ?
Internal oiling ?

What else comes with the shortblock...ie:
oiling system ?
Cam/lifters ?
Dampner ?

How many miles on them ? Do they need a freshen up ?

Thanks, Ron

Hey, that reminds me-I need an external oiling system if one will come up for sale. Ron, don't lemme hijack you-if there's one of those for sale and you want it, you get first shot at it since you brought it up first.

Ron...there wouldn't be very many miles...maybe 500...the cranks were custom 4.250 ...the pistons 15.2...no hard block...external oil systems (Titan pumps) and static pickups...
the blocks will be bare and come with a fresh hone.. 600 with a brush...or any way you want...just drop in a kit from 440'sRus and away you go...

I'd be interested in an external oiling setup. What chassis are the pans for? I'll be putting mine in a fox body mustang with an aftermarket crossmember. A dragster pan might fit. My current pan-in-progress is a truck pan with the front wall of the sump cut and moved back a couple of inches to clear the crossmember, and some extra width in the back to help add volume back. Can you tell me a bit about the titan pump and the setup of the lines?

Oh and yes, the 517 is a 4.300" stroke combo. The pin is pretty far up in the piston, but I THINK I remember it being less so than the 4.15"/lowdeck combo because I'll be using .400" longer-than-stock big block chevy rods. I can't remember for sure, it might be that it's only a taller piston than a 4.25" lowdeck. In any case, at least one person on moparts had successfully built one of these over a year ago.

You must mean a +250 bb chevy rod which is a 6.385...
I see....this is someones throw together kit because he found a piston that comes close to the deck height when you use all the parts...and your going to copy it...I see...I see...
you would be better off using a honda rod IMO...more clearance on the big end...
the only problem I see is when you offset grind the crank your through the nitrate on the crank and the china cranks are really soft (and ugly) once your through that layer...
all the power to ya...you'll be unique :2thumbs:

I could swear it's .400" longer. In any case, there is no copying of the piston part-it was custom. I forget who it was over there, but the moparts guy is one of the members that runs a shop. I might have to go search for it sometime.

Randy...these part are in the stratosplere as far as price go compaired to what were trying to do...
v8....COOL...the way I see it now all the odd combos arn't worth it when you can buy a complete bal. kit for $1500...the cost for the few extra Cu. In. is not worth it any more...just my take on it...but everyone has there own agenda...

but to say I have 517 ci in low deck is pretty cool

You're right, that extra few cubic inches is NOT worth it from a dollar/hp standpoint. However, with the stroke this thing will have, I decided I wanted to put better rods in there than the $1500 kits come with. So, that would negate part of the price difference anyway. Still not worth it though. In any case, I'll have plenty of head to feed it, and it oughta make plenty of power on pump gas. I'm shooting for between 750 and 800.

and it oughta make plenty of power on pump gas. I'm shooting for between 750 and 800.

That's a lot of power on PUMP gas...[smilie=2:
the engine that's in my GTX now is a REAL pump gas engine...runs on 87-91octane and it makes just a hair over 730 hp and 600 ft lbs with 515 ci in with a 9 to 1 comp ratio...it would make more tq and hp with 11.5 cr but to make 800 hp with 517 ci in and 11.5 is a really BIG deal...
just out of curiosity how much camshaft and carb do you think you will need to get 750-800 hp...(really curious)
