I wish I were.

I know things have been a little choppy here as of late. Steps have been taken and I think (I don't want to jinx it.) that we should see smoother sailing ahead.

The hosting company upgraded the database server. That was the source of most of the performance issues we've been seeing as well as the CPU exceeded messages that locked up the account.

The database is now stored on a solid state hard drive - basically, that's super fast electronic memory (like the RAM in your PC) as opposed to mechanical magnetic disc based memory (like the hard drive in your PC).

I've noticed a huge difference when I'm maintaining the database and it seems to have sped up page loads for the board but that was never a big problem for me. :huh:

The board software was upgraded this morning. Nothing too spectacular was added. So, you probably won't see any changes. We are more secure than we were yesterday - at least if we believe the software developers (I do for the most part).
 
Solid state hard drives are far from a cure-all, but one thing they do excel in is random seeks, which I would think pretty much describes a data server.

Did notice other things working a bit smoother tho :2thumbs:

All the banner pics are 125 pixels tall... Beyond that, they is what they is.

I have noticed that they'll get misaligned in FireFox once in a while. I haven't seen it in any other browser or on any pC but Mine. So, I thought it was just me.. Not much I can change about it anyway..

I also say :bravo: to you DCF, for all you do around here! Good man! The pages may be loading a little quicker for me, but I'm on dial-up (no cable out here in the sticks), so hard to tell. So far, at least today, it does seem quicker to me. :xl:
 
Yah, ya know..now that you mention it the board is working much better over here. I had been getting brutally slow...um I mean it had been getting brutally slow. Yeah that's it.

Even at the shop when i feel things slow down - she shows up and WHAM -- do you know how many mufflers i get done when she stove pipes me? i get a raise next week.
