ok the last few weeks have been hell...literaly..
i knew i had some work ahead of me on getting the alfa back on the road but i had no idea.....rebuilt the calipers after ordering a kit from texas..only to find while im under there that the fuel pickup line was shot(i bumped it and it started leaking...so i try to crimp the line at the fuel pump only to have it disintigrate in my hands...this hose is no longer made and is a preformed hose with a u turn at one end in 7/16's hose....i had to fab up new brakets and turn the fuel pump and filter around...while under there i found the shiftlinkage toast so i had to refab and bush it..now back topside the cluthc MC is leaking ..ok fine order a kit for it...nooooooooo no one carries it and special order will be 2+weeks...localy a new clutch MC is 150..f-that texas price is 60....but im stuborn and want to rebuild this unit or replace it with something more common in the parts houses.....out to the wrecker...ohh look NOTHING has a clutch mc even remotely like it closest thing is a bmw..annoyed i come home and gut the clutch mc yup only 2 seals and both suck......back to the brakes..wtf still squishy..finaly break down and buy a vac pump for single man bleeding ...why did i never do this befor i have no idea....worked so so..but still squishy but no air comeing out...starts to rain...next day i figure ill check the pedl..wtf no pedal..after 15 times bleeding the brakes i finaly have pedal..its litely squishy but thats cause i need to upgrade the MC to a 23-25mm from the 20-22 the factory used...back to the clutch..welll i found some parts lists online that sent me parts house jumping again..with zero luck..back to the yard...i gutted the bwm units that were out there and i was right the seals in them fit and the clutch now works again....now onto the cracked/broken interior door handls....yes you cant get out of the car once in it......this took some re-engineering the double springs on them were way way way to much spring for the plastic handles.....a relube of all door mechanicals and some jb weld on the door handles and some torch heat on the springs made it all satisfactory again....onto the power mirrors for kicks as well as some minor electrical issues that i knew it had..its italian its its god given birth right to have electrical issues.....anyway at some point in its life the switch and some wireing for the power mirrors went up in smoke...the switch is again ..no longer availible...so i went and got about 8 diferent switches from the local yard only 1 of wich will work after giveing myself a migrane makeing wireing scematics for each switch...some time today ill take the car of jackstands and go for a drive....ive still got a few minor ground issues in the tail lights and a few other very very minor non hazzardish issues to deal with but nothing keeping it off the road.....now for a road trip to NE washington for my wife to see her kid and sign some papers.....the work will pay off considering the car gets 35mpg on the hwy
