This afternoon, I was handed my very-first official paycheckque from Northern Supply of Iron Mountain.

I'm kinda bummed that they made it official. It was nice being paid in cash, but I'm getting a lot more hours now and it's tough to write that expense off. My pay was cut a little because of the increase in time, but it's certainly adequate. As time goes by I'll get full time and a commensurate increase in my pay rate. No complaints whatsoever, particularly about my shift: I start at 6:15AM and work until noon, then they feed me lunch (and I'm paid to eat it) and send me home. 30-35 hours a week, and rarely will I be working after 1PM. Even when I go full time, I'll be done by 3PM.

Sweetness...Congrats Doc! :2thumbs:

I have to say I'm more then a little envious of the work hours, and the fact that they feed you, AND you get paid to eat....:D

I've known these guys for many years. This is actually where I started in auto parts way back in August of '87. Their Dad and mine were best friends and they treat all of their employees like family. Always have; they're a great bunch. They recently had an opening for which I was first choice, but they had to hire someone else for it because of my license situation. However, since they're also losing one of their drivers they've got me coming in that early to check in the stock order, etc. and get things ready so they can make their first deliveries prior to the phones catching fire at 8AM.

Being there's only the dog and I that need feeding (and I don't even need to provide myself lunch 5 days a week :D ), plus no one else leaving lights on or turning up the thermostat, I can get by pretty nicely on my wage even at 25-30 hours... and yes, the timing of those hours absolutely rules. It's been a long time since I worked a job that wasn't "dark to dark" during the winter.
