My 8-track experience is limited to cruising with a few buds and "commandeering" my big brothers ride for a weekend or an evening.
I was thinking about this last night, and decided I really couldn't think of any offhand. What are some of your most memorable/disappointing song splits on 8-track tape?

EDIT: and can you listen to the same song using a different media without instinctively pausing for the break?

Ahhhh yes, 8 tracks. The only one I can remember was a cars tape but I don't know which one. With mp3s if theres a chip in it I'll expect to hear it on the radio. :)

Younguns......

IIRC The Doors People are Strange was cut in half

actualy i owned an 8 track in the early 80s that i got out of a good will dumpster along with a box of tracks...i was less than amused...but i somehow managed to hang onto the 8tracks....i should find someone to send them too

no splits but lots of dead air on a doors 8 track I would get fed up and bump it to the nest track then I would get a part of a song it it would track to the next and I would skip a lot of songs..

My most worn out 8 track was More Credence Gold boy oh boy they did not last a month Sweet Hitch-Hiker blasting from the green 69 road runner those were the days. ( getting so old I sound like Archie Bunker )

I owned a 4 track and for my 18th BD I got a discreet quad 8 track it was the baddest man I was pumping it at 25W/chan :)

strange thing is I had a cassette player then upgraded to 8track

lol i know all about over useing of the ribon in a casset...funny ive got the original bryan adams summer of 69 casset...summer of 69 is the only non warped song on it cause it was played that much LOL....ahh highschool

Remember the convertor cartridge, where you drop the casette into the body of an 8-track then pop it in? god those made some horrendous noise.

Wolf, I have the sister to your Creedance on casette if there was nobody else in the the car:) that was usually in. Piked it up out of the cheap bin and it became one of my top 5.

ok then, how many sets of top mount speakers do you have? (head whackers) :D or "roof mount" on those starry moonlit evenings  that's if you spent the extra $.39 for the 16 foot wires and you weren't so cheap as to use a common ground.

These kids spend on wires what I did on whole systems.

ROFL! I found onna those adaptors in my shop at my moms....guess I used it on some old car, long ago. :D

Those were the days :giggedy: I had a Muntz under dash in my 69 R/T and when I bought my 69 Swinger in spring of 77 cassettes were just coming out around here...I remember spending the princely sum of $450.00 for a Pioneer cassette deck and speakers.[smilie=2:

Christ boot...whats an 8 track?

8 track was invented by Bill Lear, of Lear Jet fame. I had a home 8-track recorder than I used to make my own 8 tracks for the car. I can still hear the 'click' as the machine changed tracks whenever I listen to Free Ride by the Edgar Winter Group. Recently, the guy who bought my brother's Tor-Red SuperBird says he still has the car, the 8-track that was in it when he bought it from us, and the receipt for the 8-track (he found that under the bench seat.)
