Thrift store score today...

Drowning deep in my sea of loathing...so I'm
Was near the thrift store today so as always had to run in and see what treasures they might have. Well today was a very good day...

Millers Falls Tools 3/8 electric drill, model 414. Works fine except the trigger is stuck on. Paid $15 Cdn for it!:bananadance:

Now I have not been able to find info on the exact year of manufacture for this drill but did come across a listing for a model 515 and 515C and they were produced around 1928/29/30. I also found a scanned copy of the Millers Falls Tools catalog from 1925 and it does not show any electric drills, so I assume it must have been produced some time between 1926/27.

That is one cool piece of equipment! Kudos to you for risking the fatal tickle that plugging it in could've brought. 😁 It'd probably twist your arm off if the bit got stuck; it looks like a pretty serious motor for a small drill. With some fresh brushes and cleaning on the switch, it'll probably outlast all of us.

Nice score!

Yeah, I’ve got my dad’s old drill with an all metal case.
Someone saw it, I think it was my older brother and said, “You wear gloves when you use that. Right?” LOL.

I have been reading about these old tools and their uninsulated motors! 😲 I could add a new 3 wire chord and find a spot to ground the case, but might just fix the trigger and then put it on a shelf as cool garage art.
