Thoughts?

The paint fumes have cleared so I'm
Seriously thinking about picking this up... been listed for awhile.

I can get it for a good bit less than asking price. Runs well, goes into gear smoothly, needs brakes and tires all around. Some rust around the rear wheel openings but nothing too big. Floors and trunk look like new.
Needs seat upholstery and a good cleaning.

I'm a big-car lover. Lowered and shiney, I think this would look pretty good.

'Pinions?

Those 'lectras are nice cars. Personally I think GM put more pride in the Lectras than they did the Caddies.

Some people swear by the old nailheads but the buford 455's were as bulletproof as the nailheads. Years ago I knew a couple of guys that were hardcore Buford owners. One night I talked them into pairing off. One had a '67 Lectra with a 401 & the other was a '70 with the 455. It was a leisure drag race, side-by-side up to about 80 mph. At that point everyone became bored.

Power being equal, as I recall the 455 was a little more thirsty, but would still return livable mileage on the hiway.

A bit of trivia; The 225 in Electra 225 is for the length. Every Electra measures 225 inches. And for years everyone thought that the air cleaner sticker was hp or cubes but it was the ft lbs of torque.

Hey! I knew that! :)

I didn't get to Captain the boat - no valid sticker - but it runs very smooth and quiet.
It's a nice straight car, still in original paint.

The only thing I don't really care for is the grille. It's not the shape, but the pattern. Some creative blacking-out might work, I guess, or maybe something from another year?

A deuce and a quarter! Nice! I like it, Doc's right on the grille, either another or some blackout would fix that right up. I'd say gopher it. :2thumbs:
