This town sucks for speed shops

Just called the local speed shop to see about getting throttle shaft bushings installed in a dbl-pumper. Guess how long?

3 to 4 weeks. "Yeah, we're all backed up with engine work". No doubt their machinists are so damn busy that they don't have time to drill a hole and press a bushing in while other operations run.

Dick weeds.

I had hoped it'd be a better experience, after seeing this picture http://www.carlgrovermotorsports.com/pics/mainpics/carshow/images/DSC00107_JPG.jpg but I should've known better.

It ain't brain surgery, I'm tempted to buy the tools to do it myself. Seems like a drill press and an arbor press is all I'd need.

If you're talking about the teflon strips on the throttle shafts of a holley carb.... they're a pain in the ass! I suggest buying a new base plate because I've never got the damn things to seal properly after I took the base plate apart.

Later,

Greg

I've been told that dbl-pumpers don't use the teflon strips. They don't come in the DP rebuild kit, but do come in the rebuild kit for vac 2ndary carbs though.

I might have a line on a guy that wrenches at a Harley shop that does that kind of work ... waiting until tonight to call him at home.
